Lansberry’s arm carries Middletown to win

Chris Lansberry picked a very good time to show how good Middletown’s outfield defense can be.

Lansberry threw out the potential game-tying run for the final out of the game as the Lions topped Concord, 5-4, in Delco League action Wednesday.

Andrew Abrams got the win in relief and also contribute­d a double and an RBI.

Joe Addvensky took part in the defensive effort in center field to augment two hits and an RBI, and Jim Quinn provided a run-scoring double for Middletown.

Ron Bailey worked into the seventh inning on the mound, and Mitch Helmandoll­ar (two hits, home run) shed the catcher’s gear to notch the save by getting the last three outs.

Nick Balori rapped out three hits, and Corbyn Nyemah bashed a two-run home run among his two hits.

Dan Kelleher tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts. Sam Friedman (double) and Matt Ballenburg each provided two hits and two RBIs. In Senior EDCO: A.J. Vagliani did it all, tossing six innings pitched and striking out 11 while driving in four runs as Folcroft topped Ridley, 6-3. Mike Phillips added two hits, and Brian McVaugh supplied solid defense at second base for Folcroft.

provided three hits for

Tim Quinn registered the win on the mound, and Mark Munafo and Tony Zambino collected two hits each as Stanley Kup bested Bar, 5-2, in the Penn-Del League.

In the Delco Christian Murray’s Over50

League: Call it early jitters: Mike Hooven allowed four runs in his first start of the season, then posted goose eggs the rest of the way for UTC. Hooven helped his cause with two RBIs.

Mike Porrini doubled twice, tripled, scored twice and posted two RBIs. Ed Osciak was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Josh Chandlee doubled twice in scoring two runs.
