Concord remembers ‘Big Frank’ before 1-0 win over Narberth

-

In the third annual Delco League Military Appreciation Game, the Concord Canes fondly remembered “Big Frank.”

Frank Saviski Sr., a former coach with the club and Navy veteran, was honored along with American Legion Post 951 prior to the game. It’s fitting that Saviski’s son, Frank Jr., played an important role in Concord’s win over Narberth.

Saviski struck out two in the seventh inning for the save and added a single at the plate. He preserved a stellar outing by starter Ben Faso, who tossed six innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts.

Cole Gamber was 2-for-3 and 1-0 singled to drive home Kyle Davis in the bottom of the sixth inning for the game’s only run.

CJ Costales collected three hits and two RBIs as the Black Sox won a slugfest. Sam Freedman smacked a run-scoring triple and Eli Chase toed the slab well enough for the win.

Senior EDCO

Brendan Seleyo played the role of hero — two times — for Aston Valley.

After coming through in the clutch with the game-tying single in the bottom of the seventh, Seleyo won it with a run-scoring hit in the ninth, lifting Aston to a 5-4 decision over Briarcliffe.

Spiros Hartas added three hits for Aston. Ryan Duplicki pitched five strong innings of relief to record the win.

Delco MSBL

Barry Blundin pitched another nine-inning gem for the Top Lumber Expos. The Ridley legend and All-Delco scattered six hits and struck out five as the Top Lumber Expos defeated the Media Mustangs, 5-3.

The Expos improved on the season.

Carlos Law led the way on offense with two hits and an RBI. Zac Penman and Frank Gonzalez each singled in a run. to 10-0
