CHESTER » Chester Education Foundation holds an open house for its new location in the Crozer Building, 419 Avenue of the States, from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14. The Chester Education Foundation (CEF) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support educational excellence and to promote revitalization efforts of the Chester community.
Founded in 1988, CEF offers support for students’ academic achievement and social and emotional development. It provides safe and fun after-school and summer enrichment programs with high levels of achievement and recognition. CEF’s “School to Career” program is set to provide jobs for over 60 high school students this summer. One-third of past participants in this program were offered continued employment during the school year.

Race through Media June 16
MEDIA » The Media 5 Mile Race is set for 7 p.m. Friday, June 16. The 2.5 mile USATF-certified course starts on State Street and goes through the tree-lined streets of the borough, looping twice through residential and business areas. There is a children’s fun run is held at 6 p.m. at Barrall Field on Edgmont Street.
Registered racers can pick-up their bibs and tshirts on Wednesday, June 14. from 5-8 p.m. at the Media Community Center, 301 N. Jackson St., or the day of the race in front of the Delaware County Court House from 5-6:30 p.m.

Donate musical instruments in Aston
ASTON » Keep Music Alive and Spirit of Harmony Foundation have partnered with Richards Guitar Studio, 2710 Concord Road, Unit 5, to support Hungry for Music on their Magic Music Bus Tour. The tour stops at 100 locations across the continental U.S. and Canada to pick up donated musical instruments to distribute to aspiring young musicians.
Richards Guitar Studio is the official Philadelphia area drop-off location, with collections now open. The Magic Music Bus arrives on June 8 to pick up the instrument donations. Havertown Irish fest June 24
HAVERFORD » The inaugural Havertown Irish Festival from noon-9 p.m. Saturday, June 24. The day long outdoor festival celebrates the music, food, folklore, sports and way of life of Ireland. Fr. Kevin Gallagher, pastor of The festival takes place in the rear parking lot of Manoa Shopping Center. St. Denis Church, serves as the festival grand marshal.
The center stage features traditional and modern Irish music from the following performers: Runa; Galway Guild; The Scott McClatchy Band; John Byrne Band; Across The Pond; Dylan McGuire Band; Marissa Berry ~ Philadelphia Mary From Dungloe; Maura McKinney Mastro; Philadelphia Emerald Society Pipe Band.
Along with all day music, the festival features food from area restaurants and bars. Irish associations, guilds, and clubs present their areas of expertise and celebrate the unique Irish culture, legends and traditions. Vendors and non-profit groups are also on hand.
The Havertown Irish Festival is produced by Kelly Music for Life, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to improving lives and communities through music. The event benefits local music programs, the Kelly Music Center Project and other community initiatives. The Havertown Irish Festival will be streamed live on iRadioPhilly.

Go rogue at Colonial Pa. Plantation July 8
NEWTOWN » Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation hosts Pirates, Spies and Rogues Day from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 8. Come out to the plantation to learn about the nefarious history of the Philadelphia area by engaging in pirate battles, spy missions and other unsavory family-friendly activities.
Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-12. Visitors can try their hand at making ship biscuits, design their own pirate flag, write a secret message in invisible ink, go on a treasure hunt and more.
The plantation is located at 3900 North Sandy Flash Drive, Newtown Square. Last admission is at 3 p.m. The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation is an authentic living history site with the purpose of enhancing understanding of 1760-90 farm life in Southeastern Pennsylvania by providing high quality, research based experiences to the public. The plantation is open weekends March 25-Nov. 26. School programs, group tours and summer camps are available on weekdays. Reprieve for Pa. tax delinquents
The Pennsylvania Tax Amnesty program is underway through June 19. Eligible individuals and businesses can apply and pay past-due state taxes to benefit from having all penalties waived and the interest cut by half. This window of opportunity is a chance for thousands of individuals and businesses to relieve the burden of unpaid taxes.
Those eligible include individuals and businesses with: Unpaid or underpaid taxes as of the end of 2015; Unfiled tax returns for periods due on or before December 31, 2015.
Delinquent taxpayers known to the Department of Revenue will receive a written notice by mail informing them of tax delinquencies and the PA Tax Amnesty program.
