Quinn helps Lions wear out Blue Sox

A big day at the plate from Jim Quinn and a solid effort on the hill out of Andrew Abrams was just what the Middletown Lions needed to get back on the winning track in the Delco League Friday night.

Quinn drove in three runs and Abrams fanned 10 in six innings as the Lions snapped a four-game losing streak with a 9-4 decision over Upper Darby at Kerr Field.

Quinn went 3-for-3 with a homer, while Joe Addvensky (RBI) and Scott Kelly chipped in with two hits each for the Lions, who played their fifth game in eight days. Abrams allowed five hits and just one earned run in his six innings of work.

Softball

One inning was all UTC Union needed to roll over Haggerty’s, 25-3, in the Delco Christian Softball League.

Jim Blickley’s three-run double highlighte­d a 15-run outburst in the first inning. All 15 runs were scored with two outs. Blickley finished with three hits and four RBIs.
