CHESTERBROOK » A vigil was held Sunday night for the Malvern area woman who has been missing for two months.

Anna Bronislawa Maciejewska, 43, who emigrated to the United States from Poland, was last seen by her husband leaving their Charlestown Township home on Hedgerow Lane for work on Monday, April 10 but she never made it to work. Her employer at Voya Financial in West Chester reported her missing on April 11.

Event organizers invited the public to attend the vigil called a “gathering of hope and light for Anna.” The event was held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Duportail House, 297 Adams Drive, Chesterbrook, PA. 19087. The gathering was held on the front lawn.

Event organizers encourage friends and neighbors to speak, share a story about Maciejewska or share an encouraging reading.

The event organizers said because this is to support Maciejewska and her family, they did not want people to discuss the missing person case or theorize what happened to her.

“Our only goal from this event is to gather in the hope that we will find Anna together,” said event organizers, who added that the community can be her voice.

Maciejewska communicated regularly with her parents in Poland who are in their 80s, but March 30 was the last time she communicated with them, according to the Finding Anna Maciejewska website at www.findingannam.org/p/home.html.

“Because of you it is easier for us to carry our despair and to believe in the selflessness and good in people,” her parents said in a statement on the website. “Our Anna was our beacon of hope for happiness in our old age. We feel as though we lost a few years of our life. Maybe this is just the nightmare which will disappear once we open our eyes. Our gratitude is immense and we thank you for everything from the bottom of our hearts.”

Maciejewska had two weeks off from work as planned, but she did not return for her first day back on April 10, according to state police. Her husband, who reported her missing on April 12, told state police that he last saw Maciejewska on April 10 when she left their home to go to work. State police said her 2011 navy blue Audi A4 with the Pennsylvania license plate HTF2919 was found in Charlestown Meadows on May 8.
