NOT JUST FOR DEMS

Phil Heron, I’ve read your paper from cover to cover forever; I’m 83. Sound Off used to be interesting, but now I refuse to read it, just like I refuse to read Jodine Mayberry’s column. If you think your paper’s just for Democrats then they can have it. I’m tired of our president being insulted. He is the president of United States. We didn’t do that to Obama. You’re going to lose us one by one, so say goodbye to the Republicans.

BRAVO FOR NURSE!

Nurse Karen of the Taylor Hospice Residence Home Care is an excellent, very caring nurse who listens and answers all concerns. She goes beyond the physical needs of her patients. She has been known to visit dressed as a clown to lift the spirits of the patient and family, then gifts a picture of the occasion for lasting memories. Thank you so much. GRATEFUL WIFE OF A PATIENT

LESS THAN PERFECT

To the caller who said Jim Bunning’s perfect game made his father’s birthday: I took my three children to a Phillies game in the 1960s where Bunning’s performance won the game. While we were leaving we met Bunning on the landing of the stairs. My young daughter asked for his autograph. She was under 10 but knew the game and knew he made the difference that day. He said “no.” When my daughter, now 60 years old, read your Sound Off she immediately said “he wouldn’t give me his autograph.” How nasty he was that this was her first thought about a Hall of Famer and later senator. A LITTLE BALANCE

To “No Trickle Down,” I think you mean Paul Krugman has said it doesn’t work for years. Try having a more balanced approach to popular economics.

THINK SMALL

To “Respect Our Differences,” “Ignorance Is Hiss” and everyone else out there with an opinion on the $15 an hour minimum wage: You all must work for a big corporation. What you seem to forget are the small businesses. They all can’t afford to double their employees pay overnight. Many will have to let people go or go out of business, creating more unemployed. Yes, the minimum wage needs to increase, but just like the sugary beverage tax in Philly, that cost will be passed on to the consumer. Let’s start smaller and work up to $15.

SIGN OF TIMES

July 1 is closing in. That means school taxes and for sale signs. DROWNING IN RIDLEY TOWNSHIP

PRIVATE BUSINESS?

In the article in Times noted that pension cost and charter schools are going to be tax hikes for the school districts. This means our tax money is going to be paying CEOs of what are essentially private schools – meaning charter schools – and taxpayer money should never ever be used to fund private schools.

SALARY CAPS

Why don’t school districts control salaries with top administrators? Stop building new schools and renovate the existing schools. CONTROL YOUR SPENDING

MEET IN MIDDLE

I agree with the caller saying green energy advocates have to get off their high horse and come to the table with some practical ideas. The same goes for the self-proclaimed public education advocates. There is a complete unwillingness to admit flaws the system and an irrational belief that increased funding can fix everything. Nothing will ever get done until people are willing to meet in the middle.

NOT HAPPENING

This is to “Bingo From Boothwyn.” They’re going to impeach Trump the same day Hillary becomes president – never.

MEDIA FOOLS

Trump made a fool out of the mainstream media. He made a fool out of Democrat’s election plans. He won, and it looks like he’s making fools out of a lot of people who think he should be impeached. You can’t impeach somebody for no reason. You can’t overthrow elections. This isn’t a third world dictatorship. BOOTHWYN
