‘Shark Tank’ casting call returns to Philadelphia Wednesday
PHILADELPHIA » Comcast Business hosts a casting call for the ABC show “Shark Tank” in Philadelphia for the second consecutive year, providing small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to achieve their business aspirations in the upcoming ninth season of the program. The casting call takes place at XFINITY Live!, 1100 Pattison Avenue, on Wednesday, June 28.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with ‘Shark Tank’ and give our customers and local entrepreneurs the chance to get their businesses off of the ground,” said Dave Dombroski, Regional Vice President for Comcast Business in Greater Philadelphia area.
“We are always excited to visit cities across the country in our quest to find promising entrepreneurs with great ideas. I believe that great entrepreneurs are all around the U.S., and they just need an opportunity to pitch their idea, so we look forward to traveling to Philadelphia,” said Clay Newbill, “Shark Tank” Executive Producer.
Comcast Business is bringing additional amenities to this casting call, including free WiFi, charging stations for wireless devices, guest speakers and a lounge area where attendees can network with other local entrepreneurs.
The first 500 aspiring contestants to arrive with completed application forms between 9 AM and 11 AM are guaranteed a numbered wristband and the opportunity to be seen and will pitch the “Shark Tank” casting team with their business concepts, products or ideas. The event helps cover medical costs for Lucy, who underwent her first open heart surgery at 6 days old and is scheduled for a second surgery in July.

West End summer camp opens June 19

U.D. Summer Stage is back July 5
UPPER DARBY » Tickets for the 42nd season of Upper Darby Summer Stage are now on sale with shows opening July 5. The family series of summer performances includes seven musicals presented in six weeks, showcasing the talents of young performers from throughout the Delaware Valley.
The Mainstage production is the highlight of the season as young adult participants, Summer Stage staff and alumni perform in the Philadelphia regional premiere of the new musical “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” The musical is based on the classic Victor Hugo novel and the Walt Disney Animation Studio film of the same name.

Run with Rocky Run Y
MIDDLETOWN » Rocky Run YMCA announces its new Rocky Runners Club meets at 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. Sundays in the Y lobby. Led by Running Coach Francie McNally, the runners take off on a few scenic miles run around the Y property.
The new running club is a great way to introduce runners to the picturesque trails behind the Y. Runners of all ages can sign up now for the annual Rocky Run 5K and 10K Trail, set for Friday, May 19. The 5K and 10K trail races both begin on the outside track and enters into the trails behind the Y. The downstream portion of the trails parallels Rocky Run creek, rolling hills and rocky stream vistas.
A Kids Fun Run starts at 6 p.m.; cost is $10. The 10K Trail Run starts at 6:15 p.m. and 5K Trail Run starts at 6:30 p.m.; cost is $30. To register, search for the races at www.runtheday.com. Volunteer opportunities are available. Tshirts are available for the first 150 registered participants.
