Janet Louise Hill of Lansdowne, Pennsylvan­ia, passed away after a short illness on June 14, 2017. Born in 1946 in Philadelph­ia, PA she attended Lansdowne-Aldan High School and Lebanon Valley College. While in college she started as a counselor at Camp Songadeewi­n on Lake Willoughby in northern Vermont, a summer job that became a focus of her life and continued until the camp closed in 1975. After graduation, she taught in Andover, MA, before moving to Westmore, VT, as a year-round resident. There she developed her lifelong love of gardening and became passionate­ly involved with the humane care of animals. She was an enthusiast­ic sailor on Lake Willoughby for many years. Toward the end of her life, she lived in Lansdowne, where she added beekeeping to her continuing love of gardening. She was predecease­d by her parents, Roy L. Hill, Jr., and Margaret E. Hill of Lansdowne. She is survived by her brother, Richard W. Hill (and his wife Susan) of East Lansing, MI; her nephew and niece, David K. D. Hill of Brooklyn, NY, and Christine E. Hill-Kayser of Philadelph­ia, PA (and her husband Matthew Kayser); and her great niece and nephew, Mabel and Ian Kayser. Private ceremony.
