Ann M. (nee Epright) Waltman, 95 of Glen Mills, affectiona­tely known as “Big Red” passed on June 18, 2017 at Granite Farms Estate.

Mrs. Waltman was born in Chester to Warren and Kathryn (Carr) Epright. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan and the Chester Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Chester Hospital as a registered nurse during World War II. Mrs. Waltman left nursing to begin raising her family. She returned to nursing at Tri County Hospital in Springfiel­d. She then went on to become the Director of Nurses at Leader Nursing Home in Lansdowne and then the Director of Nurses at Little Flower Skilled Nursing Home in Yeadon and retired at the age of 72. Mrs. Waltman resided in Ridley Township for 43 years and moved to Glen Mills in 2005.

She was an active member of her former parishes Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Perpetual Help and has been a member of St. Thomas the Apostle since her move to Glen Mills. She was the Treasurer on the original Board of Directors of Ridley Township Swim Club. She was a member of the Retirement Club of Notre Dame High School and the Chester Hospital Nurses Alumni. She loved to read and to celebrate holidays and birthdays with her family. She was an avid Phillies and Big 5 basketball fan. Along with her husband, she was an active bowler and they loved to travel including multiple trips to Ireland and Greece. Most of all, for her entire adult life, Mrs. Waltman was committed to her loving family to whom she was affectiona­tely known as “Mom”, “Mom-Mom” and “Great Mom-Mom”.

Mrs. Waltman was predecease­d by her husband Leonard “Ducker” Waltman who died in 2011 and her brothers Charles, George and Warren Epright.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann M. Miller, Christine K. Tremblay and Kathleen C. (Jack) Stull, her brother John Epright, 9 grandchild­ren, 20 great grandchild­ren and 1 great great grandson.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church 430 Valleybroo­k Rd. Glen Mills where friends may call from 9:15 to 10:15 AM. Int. SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
