Narberth unleashes 14 hits in battering Middletown

The top of the lineup came through as Narberth extended its winning streak to five games with a 12-0 romp over Middletown in Delco League baseball action Tuesday night.

Sean Spratt, Kevin McGowan, Spencer Stokes and Steve DeBarberie, the top four hitters in the order, went a combined 11-for-16 with eight RBIs. Richie Tecco, the ninth hitter, went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to round out the 14-hit attack.

Ryan Haley, Adam Wheatley, Chris Goggin and Brian Miller also did a tag-team routine on the hill. Haley allowed two hits, one walk and fanned two in four innings to get the win. Wheatley, Goggin and Miller threw one inning each to complete the four-hit shutout.

Elsewhere in the Delco League: WAYNE 5, SPRINGFIEL­D 2 » Matt Eiel went the route and allowed just five hits to help Wayne move into a tie for first place.

Dan Williams and Sean Mohollen had two hits and one RBI apiece.

In BCMV Babe Ruth League action: BRAVES 7, PHILLIES 1 » Anthony Caramanico was tough on the mound and at the plate as the Braves took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 championsh­ip series.

Caramanico whiffed 10 and allowed five hits in a complete-game effort. He also went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Jason O’Brien added a single, triple and one RBI. Game 2 is Wednesday night.

Softball

Dolan’s scored nine runs in the fifth inning and six in the seventh to rally for a 13-11 victory over Murray’s in Suburban Women’s Slow Pitch League action.

Surviving pitcher Rachael Lubberman laced a bases-clearing triple while Melissa Cawley (four hits), Maria Stofanch (three hits, including two triples) and Jane Stein (three hits) drove in two runs each.

In the Delco Christian League: RAM’S HEAD 25, HAGGERTY’S 24 » Joe Simmonds capped a 5-for-5 night with a walk-off dinger. Greg Perna (3-for-5, eight RBIs), Steve Hancock (4-for-4) and Mike Moritz (4-for-5) came up big, too.

In the Brandywine Valley Senior League: GOSHEN BEVERAGE 13, LIFESMOKEV­APORS 7 » Don Natale’s four hits helped the Beverage Men take over sole possession of first place in the Gold Division. Gary Zimmerman and Wayne Taylor added three hits each. BROWNS WIN TWICE » Dave Irving had five hits as Ron Porter Browns won a split doublehead­er, beating Spaz Beverage, 16-3, and Fred Beans, 10-9, in eight innings. John McGrath, Doug Williams and double winning pitcher Bruce Barton added four hits each.

In the Ches-Del Senior League: PHYSICAL THERAPY LEGENDS 16-11, PRIDE & JOY 5-4 » Bob Shemonsky and Jim Singel led the Legends with six hits each.

Boys Basketball

Jaxson Kehoe scored 14 points as Westbrook Market outlasted Grass Plus, 39-35, in the Intermedia­te League portion of the West Laurel Hill/Springfiel­d Boys Summer Basketball League.

In the other Intermedia­te League game: BELA ROMA 50, WEST LAUREL HILL 31 » Kevin McNicholas poured in 16 for the winners. William Trimbu tallied seven for West Laurel Hill.

In the Junior League: EXECUTIVE BUILDERS 38, TONY’S PIZZA 24 » Patrick Carey paced the Builders with 16 points. Kaiden Whalen netted seven for Tony’s. MCCORMICK DELI 28, A&A CUSTOM SIGNS 20 » The Deli was led by Chris Eggleston with 10 points. Antonio Malvestuto paced A&A with eight points.

In the Senior League: MBI 37, CDL 27 » Matt Carr’s eight points led the way for MBI. Eddie Porter tallied eight points for CDL. SLACK’S 44, DAIRY COTTAGE 29 » Aiden Sceno tallied 10 points for Slack’s. Owen Dreger’s nine topped Dairy Cottage.

Girls Basketball

Gabby Ottaviano scored six points, including the winner with one minute to play to lift St. Francis to a 26-24 Junior League victory over Springfiel­d Blue in the Springfiel­d Girls League. Kate DiGregorio led St. Francis with seven points.

Lauren Eck had a game-high nine points for Springfiel­d Blue.

In other Junior League action: RIDLEY 32, NORWOOD 16 » Khalari Murphy tallied 14 points and Jenna Jones added nine for Ridley.

Diving

Caleb Fay won the senior boys and Lily Horenkamp took first in the senior girls as Tinicum swept all five age groups to defeat Riddlewood, 35-6, on opening night in the Delco Diving League.

Jena Neary (novice), Angela Brophy (junior girls) and Jack Buck (junior boys) were the other winners for Tinicum.
