Fort Mifflin film fundraiser is rescheduled Aug. 9

- Staff reports

PHILADELPHIA » “A Call to Arms, Molly — Ready, Set, Shoot!,” originally scheduled for 5-8 p.m. June 22 at Fort Mifflin, has been rescheduled for Aug. 9.

The event is a fundraiser and sizzle reel screening for “Molly,” an upcoming film on Revolutionary War hero Molly Pitcher. Fort Mifflin and the production crew welcome former Gov. Ed Rendell to lead the charge by firing the fort’s cannon to start the event. Actors, dignitaries and guests also get the chance to fire off a shot from the cannon as Live Patriots reenactors mingle with guests in the Colonial Beer Garden.

It takes a lot of actors, scores of soldiers, and even more cocktails to make a movie. Last summer, Philadelphia and Delaware County actors and reenactors created the sizzle reel for “Molly.” Now it’s time for the public to do its part with this exciting fundraiser. The event features a silent auction, raffle and a chance to explore the historic fort, where spirits reportedly still roam.

The production team is be on hand to talk about the film, which highlights a woman’s patriotic rebellion during the nation’s fight for independence. They are writer and producer Brigette ReDavid, Director Jon Barden, Director of Photography Myron Parran, Line Producer Brian David Cange and Associate Producer Karin Knebl.

Guests can imagine the production crew filming a Revolutionary War soldier fighting to hold the fort, as they sip a cocktail and listen to music while the sun dips into the horizon along the Delaware River. Proceeds from the event will go towards the production of Molly, a feature film about the legendary Molly Pitcher, which is set to be filmed in the Philadelphia area.

Tickets are $25 for regular guests and include food, music, a cocktail and tastings; $125 for VIP guests includes dinner, drinks, a gift, and a family membership for a year to Fort Mifflin.
