Love without a Doubt brings community together
UPPER DARBY » There was no doubt that there was a lot of love at the Highland Park Elementary School playground Saturday. Food was cooking on the grill. Children were having their faces painted and keeping cool under a fire hose provided by the Upper Darby Fire Company No. 37.
This was the first Love without a Doubt event in Upper Darby. The Love without a Doubt event is part of the Master’s Commission Urban CDC headed by Bishop Justin Cohen. The Master’s Commission Urban CDC is a Christian-based organization that provides help for the disenfranchised to help them get back on their feet, according to one of the organizers of the event, Taikeya J.
Their mission is to positively impact the residents through providing resources and training which empowers them to achieve their life goals. It is located at West 1501 Cumberland Street in Philadelphia.
“We had a vision to connect with Upper Darby residents of all ages to unify every one. All the activities are free. Many business and organizations came together to help with this event,” said Taikeya. “We go to the shelter in Upper Darby to help feed the homeless and felt we wanted to reach out more to the Upper Darby community.”
Taikeya, along with Mymose Dorsa and Shaniya Johnson, organized the event while Bishop Cohen cooked burgers on the grill. The young women call themselves Sisters of Christ.
