UPPER DARBY » Join friends and family to celebrate Independen­ce Day at Upper Darby Township’s premier fireworks show at 7 p.m. Monday, July 3. The evening kicks off with performanc­es by the popular Philadelph­ia band Chico’s Vibe and the Upper Darby Summer Stage Shooting Stars.

The fireworks display takes place at the Upper Darby High School Memorial Stadium behind the high school, 601 N. Lansdowne Ave., Drexel Hill. Gates open at 7 p.m. Admission is $4; cash only. Children ages 5 and under are free. Tickets are only sold at the gate. Parking is free. The event rain date is July 5.

The schedule of events and performanc­es on Monday, July 3: Chico’s Vibe at 7:30. Come out to dance and sing along with the Delaware Valley’s greatest party band. Chico’s Vibe is proud of its Delco roots and is excited and honored to perform for a community that deeply values the arts and entertainm­ent; Upper Darby Shooting Stars at 9. The song and dance performanc­e troupe features some of the region’s most talented teens and young adults; Fireworks display at 9:20. An exciting assortment of ground displays and aerial fireworks are set to uplifting songs and soundtrack­s.

July 4th comes early in PG

UPPER DARBY » Aronimink/Pilgrim Gardens Independen­ce Day Bike Parade and Wagon Parade is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24 (weather permitting, there is no rain date). The parade is held at Aronimink Elementary School, 4611 Bond Ave., Drexel Hill, and open to children ages 0-12.

Admission is free for 2017 Pilgrim Gardens Associatio­n Members. Cost is $3 per entry for nonmembers (2017 Family Annual Membership is available and is $10).

Marple GOP announces fall speakers

MARPLE » Marple Council of Republican Women announces that District Attorney Jack Whelan and Sheriff Mary McFall Hopper are the speakers for the 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Marple Township building. Register of Wills Jennifer Holstein Maddaloni is the speaker at the Oct. 16 meeting.

Movie nights Springfiel­d back in

SPRINGFIEL­D » Springfiel­d Township begins its free family movie nights for the summer on Tuesday, June 20, with a screening of “Despicable Me 2” at 50 Powell Road on the sledding hill between the township building and library. The screening begins at dusk.

Popcorn is provided for all residents who attend. Movie nights for 2017 are: July 12, July 26 and Aug. 9.
