Ruth Agnes Neff

Ruth Agnes Neff, 94 of Wilmington, DE and more recently of Red Hill, PA, passed away on June 12, 2017 at the home of her son in Portsmouth, VA.

Ruth was born in Chadds Ford, PA to Ethel (Johnson) of Chester Co., PA and George Van Horn of New Castle Co., DE on January 4, 1923. She attended Media High School. She was primarily a homemaker and also worked in retail. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, sewing, reading, gardening and travel, especially to the beach.

Ruth is survived by five children, Sandra J. Knipe (Gordon) of Harleysville, PA, Thomas G. Neff (Eileen) of Green Lane, PA, William C. Neff (Wanda) of Portsmouth, VA, Patricia R. Neff (Albert Pasquarelli) of Media, PA and John G. Neff of Chadds Ford, PA, a sister, Barbara Dawson, sister-in-law Joan Van Horn, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold G. Neff, her parents, three sisters and one brother.

A memorial service will be held at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, 727 Harvard Ave., Swarthmore, PA on Friday, June 30th. Visitation is from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with the service from 11:00 - noon. Burial will follow at the Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
