V & J ensures Hook National A will get a new champ

Sunday was V & J Day in Marcus Hook. V & J Auto swept two-time defending champion Keys Sunday to advance to the Marcus Hook Softball National A Division championsh­ip series.

The Auto body guys take on 39 North Sell title round.

Joey Yanuzzi went 4-for-4 and played stellar defense in right field to fuel V & J in the first game.

Dan Vito added 4-for-4 with a pair of triples to make a winner out of hurler Robert Stinson, who also booked 4-for-4.

In the getaway, Bill went 4-for-4. CASEY’S 13-3-10, D’ANGELO TILE 12-7-8 » John Jordan and Joey Linke had three hits apiece in the first game as Casey’s erupted for six runs in the sixth inning of the B Division quarterfin­al.

After D’Angelo Tile evened the series in Game 2, Brian Anderson stole the show with a couple of basesclear­ing triples as Casey’s advanced to the semifinal round of the playoffs.

Matt Battinieri and Kyle Hagerty smacked two hits each and pitcher Mike Kingsbury collected both wins. KEYSTONE 7-14, DARBY PAWN 6-9 » Louie Litwin blasted a bases-clearing triple to put Keystone ahead in the sixth inning of the opener and winning pitcher Mike Locklear closed the door.

Dan Scruggs put the exclamatio­n point on a 6-for-7 day with a home run to make winners out of Locklear and Keystone in the second game of the C Division semi.

Stanley Kup Inn swept Clifton Mayhem to the No. 1 seed in the E Division playoffs.

With Matt Moriarty on the bump, Stanley Kup prevailed by scores of 12-9 and 17-8 over Clifton Mayhem.

Moriarty wasn’t the only thing on fire for The Kup as Matt Mullen went 7-for-9 at the plate with five runs scored. POGUE MAHONE’S 12-18 GRAMLICK CONSTRUCTI­ON 3-13 » In the B Division semis, fifth-seeded Pogue Mahone’s eliminated Gramlick, the top seed.

Dave Bush went 3-for-4 with 2 home runs, Nick Hall 3-for-4 with one dinger as Pogue Mahone’s triumphed in the first game.

Jason Ebersole made it back-to-back-to-back homers. Mike Malkoun was 3-for-4 with a double and pitcher Dave Yarnall earned the first of two decisions.
