Lansdowne pol gets jail, probation for third DUI

PHILADELPH­IA » The Lansdowne Borough councilman convicted of his third DUI was sentenced on Monday in Philadelph­ia Municipal Court to jail and probation.

First-term councilman Eric Aubrey, 39, received a minimum of 60 days in jail and six months probation for an Oct. 27, 2016, incident in Philadelph­ia for which he was found guilty of two counts of DUI: general impairment/ incapable of driving safely. One of those charges was ultimately overturned and dismissed by Judge Craig T. Washington at sentencing.

It is Aubrey’s second DUI charge since 2015.

While his probation starts immediatel­y, Aubrey will start serving his jail time on Aug. 4. But the imprisonme­nt will be served on weekends, according to court records.

Aubrey must keep an ignition lock on his car for 12 months His driver’s license was suspended and he must pay $1,700 in court fines and fees.

This was Aubrey’s third conviction on DUI charges following a 2007 incident in Maryland and a 2014 incident in Delaware County. For the 2015 conviction, Aubrey paid $2,800 in court fines and fees, served six months of intermedia­te punishment program, placed on electric monitoring for 20 days, and had 80 hours of community service.
