Encarnacio­n, Springfiel­d rally late to clip Chester

Gabe Encarnacio­n’s two-run double capped a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, as Springfiel­d clawed past Chester, 7-6, Monday night in Delco League baseball.

Ryan Joyce came on in relief and pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win. Tom Osenbach (two RBIs) and Spencer Shomer (three runs) each had a pair of hits for the Colonials. UPPER DARBY 8, MARPLE NEWTOWN 1» Tyler O’Shea doubled twice and scored three times to provide more than enough offense for Grant Kernigan, who scattered six hits and fanned four to guide the Blue Sox to the easy win.

John Gonzalez drove in two runs with a pair of singles and Nick O’Shea added two hits, including a triple, scored once and brought home a run for Upper Darby.

Senior EDCO

A.J. Vagliani had it going on at the plate and on the mound, picking up three RBIs on a pair of basehits while striking out 11 in going the distance for the win as Folcroft’s awoke in time to pull away from Garnet Valley, 9-2.

Drew Piselli and Derrick Smith had two hits apiece for Folcroft, which broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning.

Main Line Senior Legion

Kevin Merrone went deep twice, including a grand slam and a solo home run, in finishing with five RBIs to power Broomall Newtown over Narberth, 14-5.

Luke Cantwell also got in some yard work, bagging a round-tripper in his 3-for-4, three-RBI, three-run performanc­e.
