Hamels, bullpen blow seven-run lead to Indians
CLEVELAND » Francisco Lindor, Lonnie Chisenhall and Carlos Santana each had three RBIs to help the Cleveland Indians rally from a sevenrun deficit and beat the Texas Rangers, 15-9, Monday night after manager Terry Francona left the game because he wasn’t feeling well.
The Indians came back after trailing 9-2 in the fourth inning to avoid their first four-game losing streak since 2015.
Cleveland did not provide any other details about Francona, who presented Rangers first baseman and former Indian Mike Napoli with his American League Championship ring before the game. Bench coach Brad Mills came out to fetch starter Carlos Carrasco in the fourth inning.
Cole Hamels, making his first start since April 26, allowed seven runs in 4.1 innings. The left-hander had been on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right oblique but was activated before the game. Marlins trade Hechavarria
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. » The Tampa Bay Rays are in the thick of the AL East race and hoping Adeiny Hechavarria can help them stay there.
Tampa Bay acquired the veteran shortstop from Miami more than a month before the trade deadline Monday, saying he’s a “Gold Glovecaliber” defender who’s also capable of making them better offensively.
TThe Marlins received righthanded pitcher Ethan Clark and outfielder Braxton Lee in the swap.
Hechavarria has been on the disabled list since May 10.
