SHARON HILL » A home search resulted in the confiscation of crack cocaine and a loaded handgun, as well as the arrest of a borough man on drug and firearm offenses, Police Chief Richard Herron Jr. announced recently.

Raymond G. Ryan, 34, was at his home in the 100 block of Bartlett Avenue when Sharon Hill Patrolman Sean Johnson and members of the Delaware County Drug Task Force arrived shortly after 6 a.m. on June 21 with a search warrant.

Ryan was in an upstairs front bedroom. According to the probable cause affidavit, after he was read his Miranda rights Ryan opted to speak of Johnson, telling the officer there was a “quarter” of cocaine in a green vest in the front bedroom of the residence. Officers located the cocaine, as well as packaging material and a black “HK” magazine loaded with nine live rounds of .357-caliber Sig ammunition.

When asked about the magazine, Ryan responded, “The gun is in a green shoe box in the closet,” the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, the firearm was found inside one of the boots in a green Ralph Lauren shoe box.

During the search, investigators also found a pair of men’s jeans and inside a right front pocket was a clear sandwich bag containing 28 individual packages of crack cocaine, along with $423 and Ryan’s driver’s license, the affidavit states.

A digital scale and three cell phones found in the front bedroom were also confiscated, as was a Timberland show box that contained packaging materials, and a plate and a razor that both had suspected cocaine residue.

Ryan told investigators that all the drugs and the firearm found inside the Bartlett Avenue residence belonged to him, the affidavit states.

A criminal history search found that Ryan was convicted in 2008 on charges of manufacturing and conspiracy to manufacture drugs, both felony offense that prohibit him from possessing a handgun.

As a result of the home search, Ryan was charged with person not to possess or use a firearm, possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver drug, possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s currently being held at the county prison in lieu of bail, which was set at $150,000 cash by Magisterial District Judge Leonard V. Tenaglia at the preliminary arraignment.

A preliminary hearing is listed for June 29 before Magisterial District Judge Nicholas S. Lippincott whose court in Upper Providence is designated by the county to handle drug cases.
