Robert E. Towey

Robert E. Towey, 59, of Glenolden, passed away June 22, 2017, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Born in Upland, to the late James J. and Betty (Owens) Towey, he was also pre-deceased by sister, Patricia Bair, brothers, James Towey, Jr., and Raymond Towey, and nephew Andrew J. Towey, Sr.

Bob worked as a welder fabricator for JM Welding, he was a longtime member of the Sons of the American Legion, where he played Santa for Post 193 in Sharon Hill before moving onto Post 507 in Norwood, where he served 2 years as 2nd Vice. Bob was currently serving as Sgt. of Arms for Post 566 in Glenolden, and also holds the office of Vice Commander for SAL 8th District of PA. Bob was a member of the AOH Black Jack Kehoe in Briarcliffe, and an avid pool and dart player.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon (nee Irey), daughters, Hannah Towey, and Jeannette and Tiffany Shoop, his sister, Mary (Tom) Powell, and brothers, Stephen (Shelli) Towey, and William Towey (Tom). Mr. Towey is also survived by 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 1st at 2pm at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074.

There will be a visitation on Saturday from 12 pm to 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial is Private In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the Interboro Music Boosters, c/o Pres. Lori MaCann, 1631 Holmes Ave., Prospect Park, PA 19076.
