State announces US 1 improvements
The Wolf administration announces that construction is scheduled to beginon Thursday, July 6, on a project to improve travel and safety on a 3.4-mile section of U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) in Upper Darby and Haverford townships. The project is scheduled to be completed in August.
“This project specifically addresses the need to improve safety on a busy stretch of U.S. 1 in Delaware County,” Governor Tom Wolf said. “The traffic calming measures implemented along this corridor will help save lives by reducing speeds and crashes.”
Under this improvement project, PennDOT will reconfigure the four-lane section of U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) to a five-lane section that includes a center turn lane along the corridor; resurface the highway from State Road to Harding Drive, narrow lane widths, install radar display speed signs and speed limit legends at various locations to help reduce speeds; perform tree and bush trimming operations along the south side of U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) between Blythe Avenue and Belfield Avenue; and install High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) on the northbound right lane of U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) between State Road and Arrowhead Lane to improve safety.
