Ridley LL repeats as District 19 champs

For a second straight season, Ridley Area Little League is the District 19 10/11-year-old champion.

RALL tidied it up in four innings Saturday, downing Media Little League, 14-1.

Jaxon Kehoe went the distance to get the win, scattering two hits. Irv Fisher hit a grand slam and drove in five. Austin Cannon clubbed a three-run homer, one of 19 homers launched by Ridley in five games. Michael Floriendo, Connor Scanlan and Jake Shaak collected a pair of hits apiece.

Ridley advances to the Section 8 tournament starting Thursday night at Middletown Little League, where they will take on Upper Providence.

Senior Legion

The Broomall-Newtown bats wasted no time Saturday in a 14-8 win over Roxborough in the Region 3 Tournament, powered by a seven-run second inning.

Alden Mathes provided a runscoring triple, Corey Woodcock singled home two and Vince Sposato supplied an RBI double.

Cameron Mathes scored three runs, and Chris Annas worked five strong innings for the win.

B-N advances to the late game Sunday night in the winner’s bracket against the winner of Presidenti­al Caterers vs. Spring City, which finished too late for this edition Saturday night. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

Babe Ruth 14U

Keith Grantland got the win in 1.2 innings of relief and scored the game-winning run on a Jason Rodden single as UDHL topped Altoon, 7-6, in eight innings at the state tournament.

Nate Russell struck out 10 in 6.1 innings. Rodden, Jake Anattuci and Eric Genther each went 2-for-3, with Anatucci driving in a pair of runs.

Babe Ruth 13U

Vincent Proitta clubbed a tworun single as UDHL improved to 2-0 in pool play with a 10-8 win over Mifflin County in state tournament play.

Danny Sullivan got the win with six strikeouts over five innings and helped his case with an RBI single. Paul Morgan chipped in an RBI single for UDHL. BROOMALL-NEWTOWN 7, TRICOUNTY 1 » Jack Haggerty doubled twice and drove in three runs as Christian Kegel, John Alberti and Dom Carasa combined on a nohitter for B-N. Joe Downs chipped in a two-run single.

Babe Ruth 15U

Alex Nicolaides subdued Valley for four solid innings as BroomallNe­wtown trounced Valley, 18-2, at the state tournament.

Nicolaides, Ben Davis, Owen Noonan, Ben Kovacs, Eric Protesto, Sean Hennessy, Michael Danowitz, Michael Paytas, Thomas Kane, Christian Tate, and Justin Hassey each contribute­d a hit to the offensive parade.

Delco League

Andrew Belfiglio assembled a complete game with five strikeouts and supplied a two-run double to support his cause as Concord solidified its spot in the playoff race with a 3-1 win over Middletown.

John Convery chipped hits and a run, and Sean in two Heidig added a hit and a run scored. MARPLE, SPRINGFIEL­D SPLIT » Tyler Lashley won a pitchers’ duel with Ryan Joyce in the opener, the difference an RBI hit by Tom Carey in the fourth to give Marple Newtown a 1-0 win. Carey went 3-for-3 on the day.

Springfiel­d avenged the loss in the nightcap with a 4-2 win behind a complete-game effort by Mike Smith. Vince Piccioni drove in three with two hits, and Eric Bergman added a hit and an RBI.
