Traveling markets sell produce; federal program provides summer meals to children

Several regional food programs are available for the community to purchase fresh produce and for children to receive free nutritious meals throughout the summer.

GRAB & GO MEALS IN LANSDALE, HATFIELD

Details: The North Penn School District is participat­ing in the summer meal program. As part of it, a mobile meal van will deliver free, nutritious meals to four locations Monday through Friday until Aug. 18. The van will be at Hatfield Community Park from 11 to 11:30 a.m., Oak Park Elementary School from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Knapp Elementary School from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and York Avenue Elementary School from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. For more informatio­n, visit www.npenn.org/summerfeed­ing or call 215853-1082.

MOBILE MARKET IN CHESCO

Details: A fresh produce truck makes weekly stops at several sites in Chester County to provide the community with farm fresh produce. All forms of payment are accepted at the market including cash, credit, debit, Food Stamps and Pennsylvan­ia Farmers Market Nutrition vouchers. TRAVELING MARKET IN SOUDERTON, SHARON HILL & UPPER DARBY

Details: Fresh for All is a traveling farmers market that makes weekly visits to several locations in Philadelph­ia and New Jersey. The site locations are determined based on need and access to fresh produce. The traveling market is set up at the Grace Bible Church in Souderton on Tuesdays from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Mount Zion CME Church in Sharon Hill on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and at the Christ Lutheran Community Church in Upper Darby on Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

FREE SUMMER MEALS THROUGHOUT REGION

Details: The Summer Food Service Program is a federally funded program administer­ed in Pennsylvan­ia through the Department of Education. Children 18 and younger can visit sites throughout the region to receive free, weekly breakfast and lunch meals. There are summer meal sites in Berks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.
