Edgmont Township is ready for its close up
EDGMONT » Professional and amateur photographers are encouraged to enter a photography contest documenting the beauty of Edgmont and rewarding the best photographs with prizes and display in a public exhibition. Photographers should submit their best photographs to Edgmont Environs & Details, a contest, exhibit and sale, by Sept. 9.
“We are looking for images that represent the beauty and unique details of this area. We welcome photographers 18 years of age and older to submit their original work created since January 1, 2014,” said contest organizer Paula Jackson.
The most compelling photographs will be chosen for a four-week exhibition to be mounted at Beauty Art Gallery, 3857 Providence Road. #200, Newtown Square, 19073 (Edgmont Township just off West Chester Pike). Edgmont Township includes Edgmont, Gradyville, and Ridley Creek State Park. Edgmont includes a network of runs, tributaries and creeks of the Chester, Ridley and Crum Creek watersheds, contributing to the verdant nature of the landscape.
Edgmont is located in the north-central portion of Delaware County. Its northern boundary is on the Delaware CountyChester County line where it lies adjacent to Westtown and Willistown Townships, Chester County. In Delaware County it is bordered by Thornbury Township on the west, Middletown Township on the south, and Upper Providence Township on the southeast. On the east, the Township is bordered by Crum Creek, the Springton Reservoir, and Newtown Township.

Episcopal Place hosts cafe
UPLAND » Episcopal Place at Park Row, 421 W. 24th St., provide safe and affordable housing for low-income elderly in the community. The residency invites area seniors to its Cafe at Park Row from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Reservations are required. Aqua announces improvements
MIDDLETOWN » Aqua Pennsylvania today announced an $818,000 infrastructure improvement project is underway in Middletown Township to increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area.
Crews recently broke ground to replace existing 6-inch non-metallic main with 3,963 feet of 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch ductile iron main. The project, which is expected to be completed in the fall, will take place on the following streets:
Georgetown Road between West Forge Road and the end of cul-de-sac Brooke Lane between Georgetown and West Forge roads Old Forge Road between West Forge Road and Karen Lane East Spring Oak Circle between Karen Lane the end of the cul-de-sac

Get pharm cert through CAADC
Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc.’s (CAADC) Pharmacy Technician Training Program is now accepting applications from eligible youth. This program is designed to help out-of-school youth gain the skills needed for a rewarding career including obtaining required certification.
CAADC has partnered with Delaware County Community College for its Pharmacy Technician Training Program which will provide instruction to become a pharmacy technician leading to employment in hospitals and community pharmacies. This program includes Pharmacy Technician Certification and an externship (paid work experience).
There are a limited number of available slots though and applicants must meet the following requirements: Be between the ages of 17 and 24; currently reside in Delaware County; have a high school diploma or equivalent; ready to jump start a new career.
