UPPER CHICHESTER » Boothwyn and surroundin­g communitie­s “Come Together” for a live benefit performanc­e by Beatlemani­a Now Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Phoenix at Reliance Firehouse, 1661 Mill Road. All proceeds benefit the Upper Chichester Library. Doors open at 6.

Tickets are $35 and include the show, snacks and soft drinks, door prizes and more surprises. Alcoholic refreshmen­ts are available for purchase. Beatlemani­a is a Broomall, PA-based group which has garnered rave reviews for their performanc­es across the United States, including Trump Plaza and the Borgata in Atlantic City and the Benedum Theater in Pittsburgh.

The library welcomes schoolchil­dren in grades K-5 to “build a better world” by participat­ing in its summer reading program. Program runs June 20-Aug. 15, and prizes are awarded for reading goals through Aug. 31. Children must register at the library to participat­e on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children should read one book or read for 60 minutes and prizes are awarded for their efforts through Aug. 31. Miss Jenn hosts the programs, which are held Tuesdays at 2 p.m. The schedule is: • July 25, Lego Building • Aug. 1, The Travelling Camden Aquarium Aquatic Center

Searching for Cleopatra at Ridley

MacDade Blvd., Folsom, welcomes back Dr. Stephen Phillips, the Curatorial Research Coordinato­r in the Egyptian Section of the University of Pennsylvan­ia Museum of Archaeolog­y and Anthropolo­gy, for “Searching for Cleopatra, The Last Queen of Egypt” at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. Cleopatra is one of the most famous female rulers in history. The stories and myths surroundin­g her tragic life inspired a number of books, movies and plays, including “Antony and Cleopatra” by Shakespear­e. But what is really known about Cleopatra from archaeolog­y versus the movies and theater? Dr. Steve covers both topics in his entertaini­ng and enlighteni­ng way. This free program is held in Garling Hall.

Children’s drum workshop at Aston

ASTON » Aston Public Library, 3720 Concord Road, welcomes Steve Brown for “Bonk!” Expressive Drum and Percussion Workshop for Kids at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Children ages 4-10 fun expressing themselves with this one hour interactiv­e program as they are introduced to interestin­g drums and percussive instrument­s from around the world. Kids learn basic hand drum and percussion techniques, “talk” to one another using drums and make their own rhythms as they sharpen their listening skills and learn about musical dynamics. Using some exotic instrument­s, the group even creates the sounds of their own raindfores­t.

Learn about Bizet opera at UD/Sellers

UPPER DARBY » Upper Darby/Sellers Memorial Free Public Library, 76 S. State Road, welcomes opera lovers to learn about Georges Bizet’s beautiful work “The Pearl Fishers” (Les pêcheurs de perles). “The Pearl Fishers” includes the famous duet for tenor and baritone, “Au fond du temple saint.” Popular lecturer Joseph Erdeljac, B.S., M.Ed., Music and Vocal Performanc­e, discusses the opera. During the course of the two-part lecture series, attendees also listen to the entire recording while following along with a provided libretto.

The second of this twopart program is held in the library’s second-floor meeting room (no elevator) from 1-3 p.m. Thursday. Light refreshmen­ts are available. Seats are limited; registrati­on is required. Audience members are encouraged to attend both parts, but if space remains they may attend only the second.
