Police investigate night of violence in Chester
CHESTER » A shooting late Tuesday landed a 23-yearold man in the hospital with several gunshot wounds, city police reported Wednesday.
Frederick Rochester, 25, was transported to CrozerChester Medical Center following the incident at KNF Market in the 1100 block of West Third Street about 10:54 p.m. His condition was described as fair, according to a release issued Wednesday by city Police Capt. James Chubb.
The shooting was the first of two incidents involving gun violence investigated by police Tuesday night.
At 11:59 p.m., police were dispatched to the Sunoco gas station in the 2200 block of Edgmont Avenue for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers found a black vehicle with what appeared to be numerous bullet holes in the passenger side, as well as a hole in the windshield. Standing next to the vehicle was 47-yearold Scott Jackson, who police described as having blood on his pants.
According to the release, Jackson was not shot and is believed to have suffered lacerations to his mouth by shattered glass from the windshield. He was treated at Crozer.
Police are also investigating an incident in which a man said he was stabbed with a steak knife during a family dispute.
According to the release, police were at Crozer on Wednesday following up on the shooting incidents Tuesday night when they were informed by staff that an individual with a stab wound to his upper right arm had just walked into the hospital.
Police spoke to the victim, whose name was not released. The incident is believed to have occurred in the 300 block of Norris Street.
