- FRUSTRATED SENIOR OLD TIMER

CALL TO DISTRACTION

I’m at the gym and everybody’s on their cell phone. I remember when I was a kid years ago that I would never even pick up the telephone. I still don’t have a cell phone to this day. I’m waiting to use the machines and people are just sitting there with their face down on the cell phone. This this is on unacceptable. And as a senior citizen I can say this is why nobody gets along with anybody, because nobody can look anybody in eye.

MAKING ME SICK

A lowly employee of a health care system, I’m sitting here trying to figure out how I’m going to retire before I’m 70. I’m getting angry that our former CEO sold her soul for a $10 million buyout package after she cut our retirement. Go figure. Stuff like that is what’s wrong with America.

SCOUT’S DISHONOR

It’s very sad and pathetic that the Boy Scouts have to publicly apologize for inviting the president because he has no idea how to give an appropriate speech. There is definitely something wrong with this man.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Doug Pederson says that LaGarrette Blount, who scored 18 touchdowns last year, is the greatest thing since buttered bread. I keep thinking about a guy named DeMarco Murray that led the league three seasons in a row before he came here and he did nothing. LaGarrette Blount won’t do anything, The Eagles go 6-10, if they’re lucky.

TIN-FOIL HAT TIME

So “Bahhhh-d News” thinks smartphone coupons are another way to turn the masses into sheep. I think the Daily Times should run a yearend “Best of Sound Off Conspiracy Theories” section.

BRING BACK CLEO

Does anybody remember at TV show from back in the 1950s called “The People’s Choice?” Jackie Cooper was in it and they had a pet bloodhound named Cleo and she would talk. I wish they would bring that on Antenna TV or Decades. It was a really good show and a fun show for the family.

WHY HUMANS ARE INHUMAN

To “One Sad Story,” it is a very sad story concerning the biggest shark caught and its agonizing death. It brought to mind a few other sad stories like the lion named Cecil in Africa who suffered all night with the arrow stuck in him shot by an American dentist who went on a hunting excursion. Another sad story about the poor blind horse (later named Lily) who had 130 paint balls shot at her for fun. The vet, who adopted the horse, said that it was in excruciating pain. Animals cannot speak and have no choice in the matter. People can be so sadistic. Some humans treat animals so cruelly and do not seem to care of the pain they inflict on them. What if the same pain is inflicted upon these horrible people! Would they like it?

ANIMAL ADVOCATE IN HAVERTOWN FISHY STORY

To “One Sad Story,” yes, with all of the human rights violations going on around the world against human beings who can think and feel physical and emotional pain, I just feel terrible about a big fish that acts on fightor-flight impulses being killed. Also, I’m not sure what record shark catch you’re referring to since I’ve seen a couple stories this summer, but I believe in a lot of countries they’re tagged and released back to the water if that makes you feel any better.

WATCH OUT, PHILS

All these baseball talk shows are talking about how J.P. Crawford is going to take Galvis’ place soon. Well, gurus, Crawford is hitting .225, has less homers than Galvis, and also has 16 errors. Wake up, Phillies. Don’t listen to them. You have a diamond in Galvez and pyrite in Crawford. Keep Galvez.

THAT’S NOT NORMAL

I have to wonder if some of the Sound Offs aren’t put in there by Trump operatives calling up, because any normal person would never say that Trump has done more in six months than Obama did in eight years. That’s just a ridiculous statement on its face, and now we have other people saying six months into his presidency, Trump is the greatest present we’ve ever had. No normal person would say that. I believe these are Trump operatives.
