Margaret “Peggy” Curtin McDevitt, of Glen Mills, passed away on July 24, 2017.

Born in Reading, PA in 1932, Peggy was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Curtin. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmothe­r, godmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Peggy was a woman of faith with an infectious smile and a vibrant personalit­y. She enjoyed staying connected with family and friends, playing bridge, mastering crossword puzzles and taking her daily walks and glass of wine. She always brightened the room wherever she went.

Peggy graduated from Central Catholic High School in Reading PA, then St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Reading, PA and later earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Villanova University. Peggy was a lifelong nurse and worked at St Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, PA, Delaware County Memorial in Drexel Hill, PA and Lankenau Memorial Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.

Once she retired from working, Peggy was an active volunteer especially during her years in Quincy, IL. She was a dedicated member of the 85, Quincy Women’s Club, enjoyed staffing the Quincy Museum gift shop, was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital, and was a faithful member of the St. Francis Solanus parish choir. Peggy was predecease­d by her husband, George Augustine McDevitt and her brothers Fr. Joseph Curtin, William Curtin (Rita), and Theodore Curtin. She is survived by her brothers James Curtin (Terry) and Larry Curtin (Lynn) and her sister-in-law Joanne Curtin. She is survived by her son Dr. Christophe­r J. McDevitt (Julene), her daughter Ellen McDevitt Dahl, and 3 wonderful grandchild­ren Dr. Joseph McDevitt (Dr. Stefany Acosta-Torres), Theresa McDevitt and Lauren McDevitt.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE. The family would like to acknowledg­e the phenomenal caring support by both the Maris Grove staff as well as Willow Tree Hospice Team.
