James F. Schneider “Showboat”, 65, of Sharon Hill, PA passed away on August 7, 2017.

Born in Darby, PA and raised in Sharon Hill, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Mary Joan (nee Buckley) Schneider.

During his youth Jim played basketball and baseball for the Sharon Hill Athletic Associatio­n, football for the Sharon Hill Ramblers and played in the Delco rough touch football league. A 1970 graduate of Sharon Hill High School, Jim had a heart of gold and feet that could dance the night away. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1974 and served in the Vietnam War stationed in Thailand as an avionic technician. He was awarded rank of Corporal, The Rifle Marksman Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home Jim worked in the family business, Belmont Door Company, a job which he loved.

Jim was an active member at the Sharon Hill American Legion Post 193 and Norwood VFW Post 7213. One of Jim’s favorite pastimes was watching political shows as he enjoyed being informed about our nation. Jim enjoyed skiing, Harley Davidson’s, was an avid reader, and had strong devotion to his faith and family.

Jim was the husband of the late Virginia M. “Ginny” (nee Hallissey) Schneider; loving father of Laurie Waters (Joe), Mary DelVecchio (Thomas), and the late Nicole Bomberger (Torrey); devoted Pop-Pop of Hailey and Kinsey Bomberger, Joey and Michael Waters, and Logan and Nina DelVecchio; dear brother of Mary Pondo (Fred), Charles Schneider (Denise), Lou-Ann Hamel, Thomas Schneider (Lisa), Barbara Schneider, David Schneider (Sandra), Billy Schneider (Ericka), Edward Schneider, Michael Schneider, and the late Robert Schneider (Antoinette).

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, August 13, 2017 and 9:30-10:30 AM Monday at The Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Avenue, Morton, PA 19070 (610-544-0600), followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. George’s Church, 22 E. Cooke Avenue, Glenolden, PA 19036. Interment private.
