MEDIA COURTHOUSE » A Springfield man who threatened an off-duty Upper Darby police officer in May was given time served to 23 months Monday after pleading guilty to charges of terroristic threats and fleeing and eluding police.

Daniel Folkomer, 31, of the 300 block of Southcroft Road, was also sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to perform 96 hours of community service under the negotiated guilty plea worked out by Assistant District Attorney Matt Catania and defense counsel Eugene Taggart.

The offense took place in the parking lot of Drexeline Shopping Center beginning at about 11 a.m. May 3, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Folkomer, driving a silver Honda, pulled up next to the officer as he was heading into the ShopRite grocery store and said “What are you looking at, you old f---,” according to police.

After the officer finished shopping and was returning to his vehicle, Folkomer again pulled up next to him and hurled insults, then told him, “I will f--- and kill you.”

A marked patrol car arrived and Folkomer sped off. When the off-duty officer explained what happened to the uniformed officers, they took off in pursuit of the Honda, but gave up the chase when the car reached Township Line and Burmont roads.

The officers ran Folkomer’s tags, however, and later charged him with myriad offenses including stalking and harassment. He has been incarcerated arrest May 4.

Taggart indicated Monday that the altercation with the officer was an aberration due to an argument Folkomer had with his father and told Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard Cappelli that he would not see Folkomer in his courtroom again.

Folkomer was ordered to stay away from the officer and undergo drug and alcohol, psychiatric and psychological evaluations, in addition to taking anger-management classes. since his
