Jeanne E. Slavin

Jeanne E. Slavin (nee Walsh), 54, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away suddenly at home on August 11, 2017.

Jeanne was the beloved wife of Jeffrey P. Slavin and loving mother of Matthew P. Slavin and Brian P. Slavin. Jeanne was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School and Neuman College where she earned a BSN in Nursing. She began her nursing career at Jefferson Hospital and later moved to CrozerChester Medical Center in Upland, PA where she worked as a critical care nurse for 22 years. Over the years Jeanne earned several additional certifications in trauma and pediatrics and was recognized by colleagues and patients as a caring, dedicated and conscientious professional.

Family and friends will remember Jeanne’s contagious laugh, sunny smile, love of dogs (especially labrador retrievers of which she and Jeff raised three), trips to Walt Disney World in FL and her annual trips to Rehobeth Beach, DE where she relished her sunset walks along the beach. Jeanne stayed close to her family and most especially loved being the wife of Jeff (they were high school sweethearts) and mother to her two boys.

Jeanne was the daughter of the late Harry J. Walsh and Anna Walsh (Chambers). She is also survived by her sisters Kathy A. Walsh, Patricia S. Diaferio (Lou), Eileen C. Gniewosz (Dave), and Harry J. Walsh II (Zoey) and her husband’s family: Janet D. Slavin and Clifford J. Slavin (Margaret) as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 6 - 8pm and Friday from 9-10 am at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, 610-449-0300 followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 at 10:30am. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made in her honor to Saved Me animal rescue, 860-862 N. 3rd St., Philadelphia PA 19123.
