More than a year has passed since authorities determined that a Main Line widow living alone had been murdered, and the case remains unsolved.

Hoping to turn that around, a private nonprofit group is offering a $35,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the June 2016 homicide of Denis Barger.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering the reward, and — along with the Tredyffrin police — asking anyone in the public who may have information on Barger’s fatal beating death to come forward.

Barger was found dead in her home at 970 Heatherstone Drive in Berwyn at about 9 a.m. June 17, 2016. She had been living along in the house following the death of her husband and her sale of the property.

Officers responded to the home for a welfare check per the request of Barger’s brother.

After an investigation, the Chester County Coroner’s Office ruled that Barger had died of blunt force trauma in what it characterized as a homicide. According District Attorney Tom Hogan, her death was a “targeted attack,” since the out-of-the-way location of the home did not lead to a situation where it would be a random break-in.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chester County Detectives at 610-3446866 or Tredyffrin police at 610-644-3221.
