Haverford Adult School marks 60 years, opens fall registrati­on

HAVERFORD » As it celebrates its 60th year of community service, Haverford Township Adult School is now accepting registrati­ons for the fall semester. Classes begin Monday, Sept. 25, featuring a diverse curriculum designed to appeal to the broad interests of the community.

The health and fitness program has added classes in adult ballet and jazz in addition to favorites tai chi, Pilates, yoga, Zumba, and aqua exercise. Sports enthusiast­s can consider ice skating, basketball, and volleyball. Design a quilt or consider a sewing or crochet class. Other craft classes include, glass painting, watercolor painting, the art of Zentangle, and bead jewelry design.

Try a series of one-night cooking classes, or taste your way through a tour of the Italian Market. New this semester are several courses that emphasize the basics of good nutrition and eating for a healthier lifestyle. The parenting series will focus on “Girl Power,” raising confident girls in 2017.

Computer classes include Microsoft Word and Excel. Smartphone users can learn the simple steps to secure your IPhone and personal data.

Registrati­on is also available at the adult school office, 1105 Earlington Road, Havertown, between 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Brochures are available at local libraries, township schools, the township administra­tion building and area businesses.
