16th annual Aston community day set for October 7

ASTON » The Aston Business Associatio­n will host its 16th Annual Aston Township Community Day 11 a.m.- 3 p.m., Oct. 7 at the Community Center on Concord Road. Rain date is Oct. 14.

Community day will begin with a parade commencing at 9:30 a.m. from Neumann University, and proceed down Concord Road to the Aston Township Community Center. The parade will feature local community groups and organizati­ons, and musical entertainm­ent.

The annual business expo will take place inside the community center where local businesses and organizati­ons will be displaying their products and services.

Other community festivitie­s including rides, games, food, drinks, pony rides, and contests will be held outside.

Children up to age 12 can participat­e in the parade by decorating their bikes, wagons and strollers and riding along the parade route. Prizes will be awarded for the best decoration­s. There will also be a rodeo contest prior to the parade for bikes, sponsored by the Neumann University Nursing Program. Registrati­on forms can be found at astonbikec­ontest@gmail.com.

Wrist bands can be purchased in advance for a donation of $4 each from Sept. 1-Oct. 7 at the Aston Community Center. Wristbands purchased during the day of the event will be $5 each. Proof of Aston residency is needed at the time of purchase.
