16th annual Aston community day set for October 7
ASTON » The Aston Business Association will host its 16th Annual Aston Township Community Day 11 a.m.- 3 p.m., Oct. 7 at the Community Center on Concord Road. Rain date is Oct. 14.
Community day will begin with a parade commencing at 9:30 a.m. from Neumann University, and proceed down Concord Road to the Aston Township Community Center. The parade will feature local community groups and organizations, and musical entertainment.
The annual business expo will take place inside the community center where local businesses and organizations will be displaying their products and services.
Other community festivities including rides, games, food, drinks, pony rides, and contests will be held outside.
Children up to age 12 can participate in the parade by decorating their bikes, wagons and strollers and riding along the parade route. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorations. There will also be a rodeo contest prior to the parade for bikes, sponsored by the Neumann University Nursing Program. Registration forms can be found at astonbikecontest@gmail.com.
Wrist bands can be purchased in advance for a donation of $4 each from Sept. 1-Oct. 7 at the Aston Community Center. Wristbands purchased during the day of the event will be $5 each. Proof of Aston residency is needed at the time of purchase.
