Two Cabrini students arrested with large cache of hashish oil
Largest amount of the drug ever found in the township, cops say
RADNOR» Two Cabrini University students were arrested Monday afternoon on drug charges after police said they found the largest cache of suspected hash oil ever seen in the township in a dormitory room.
Radnor police were called to the scene after the university’s public safety of- ficers discovered the drugs, police said.
One of the students, whose identities were not immediately released, was charged with possession with intent to distribute and could face jail time if convicted, police said. The other student was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana. Both students, who are sophomores, also were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
A Radnor officer, who asked that his name not be used, explained that hash oil is distilled from hashish into an amber liquid that can be smoked in a bong, imbibed with a vaporizer or vaped with e-cigarettes, which are popular now. Some of the hash oil was on wax paper sheets with various amounts listed, including one marked 140 grams, he said. However police are waiting for a laboratory to determine the exact quantity of the drugs seized.
“This is the largest amount of hash oil seized in Radnor Township but finding drugs on a college campus is not surprising,” the officer said. Hash oil, which concentrates THC, the substance in marijuana that produces euphoria, is becoming more popular among teens and young adults because it is easy to conceal, he said.
“It’s more potent that standard marijuana,” he said.
Lori Iannella, a spokeswoman for Cabrini, confirmed via email that two students were arrested. However, she said, it was against university policy to comment on open investigations.
“Cabrini is dedicated to providing a safe environment for its faculty, staff, and students,” she said.
