BAIT AND SWITCH

Remember when you went with cable because they promised an array of different shows and also far fewer commercials? Well, in case you haven’t been tuning in lately, those promises have not been realized. There are many shows but the quality and originality are sorely lacking. One night this week, I watched 11, 12 and even 13 straight commercials between two scenes in the show. Not to mention unwatchable sport shows have become, with interruptions and previews which leave the viewer confused. It seems to be time to reconsider cable. MISSING VIDEO STORES

WHAT A WASTE

I can’t understand why the Upper Darby School District needs to spend $100,000 on GPS for their school buses. I’m pretty sure the drivers know where they’re going. They drive the same route every day. What do they need GPS for?

GET A LIFE

Is “Chill Out” just looking for an excuse to complain? Yes, 62 degrees does feel chilly when it’s summer and we’re used to having daytime temperatures in the 80s and 90s. And in winter, 62 degrees feels pretty hot after a bunch of days below freezing. I agree we’re becoming a nation of wimps in a lot of ways, but a television weather lady saying 62 degrees will feel chilly isn’t one of them.

BY THE NUMBERS

To “God Bless Rollie,” I’d like to get a rough number on how many people in the area can still instantly rattle off the stats and some of the play-by-play from the ‘Nova-Georgetown championship game. I think it would be a pretty good number.

PRESIDENT HYPOCRITE

Donald Trump said that the members of his manufacturing council all quit, not because what he said, but because they were embarrassed because their companies don’t make stuff in the United States. I guess he’s not embarrassed that all of his daughter’s clothing line comes from China, and I guess he’s not embarrassed that all of the steel he uses for his buildings come from China, too.

WHY JODINE ROCKS

“Just Saying In Aston” hit the nail right on the head when they say that Judy Mayberry’s columns have facts to substantiate what she saying. This is unlike Chris Freind’s columns, which are just his opinion, but he presents them as facts – with nothing to back up what he says.

STOP DRINKING PHILLY SODA

That soda tax in Philadelphia is a scam. They’re already paying an 8 percent sales tax. People need to start boycotting it. That’s a rip off, especially for a preschool program – I never went to kindergarten, never mind preschool. Now Chicago is starting this nonsense, too. It’s a scam and anyone buying into it is a fool. Like the saying says – there’s a fool born every minute.

CLUELESS CHRISSIE

Christine Flowers says that she strongly disagrees with Trump pardoning Joe Arpaio; however, she still supports Trump overall. That just shows how clueless Christine Flowers is. Pardoning Joe Arpaio is par for the course for Trump. It’s the kind of thing he does all the time, and she can’t seem to connect the dots. MOST UNREADABLE COLUMNIST EVER

YOU’RE KILLING YOURSELF

I’m a lifelong Democrat and I still am not satisfied with the Democrats in Congress. However, I will say that they have tried to do things to help the middle class or the poor. And this is where the stupidity of Republican voters comes in. Republican politicians have made no secret of the fact that they don’t care about the middle class and they don’t care about the poor. And yet these Republican voters go into the booth every Election Day and vote Republican. When you keep voting for someone who not only does not care about you, you can’t get any more stupid than that.

THANKS, AMIGOS

I want to see if any foreign countries send any money or help to Texas and Louisiana. We’ll wait and see how many help us out inside of us helping them out.

Mexico has already offered to send aid to Texas — Ed.
