Curry, Chester set up showdown with Glen Mills

The stage is set for a showdown between Chester and Glen Mills for the Del Val League boys cross country title.

Lamaj Curry, Abdul Griggs and Tae’On Bradley-Chambers swept the top three spots to keep Chester unbeaten following an 18-37 win over Chichester and a 20-25 triumph over Interboro Wednesday at Rose Tree Park.

Curry took hope individual honors with a winning time of 18 minutes, 37 seconds to help set up a showdown with Glen Mills for the league title next Monday at Rose Tree Park.

Interboro, led by Garrett Thompson who finished in fourth at 21:08, downed Chichester, 1550. The top runner for the Eagles was David Sherry in sixth with a time of 21:47.

Also in the Del-Val: GLEN MILLS STAYS UNBEATEN » Ramik Lawrence finished first in 19:24 as the Bulls edged Penn Wood, 26-29 and topped Academy Park, 15-50 to stay undefeated in the league and set up a showdown with Chester.

Penn Wood took care of Academy Park, 15-50 as Nathaniel Randall finished the day in second at 19:25 followed by Tyshaun Truitt in third at 19:42.

Girls Cross Country

Keiasia Kennard finished first in 24:32 and teammate Taniyah Lawler took second in 25:47 to lead Chester over Interboro (1545) and Chichester (15-50) in a Del-Val tri-meet at Rose Tree Park.

Aniya Boland was the top finisher for Interboro in seventh place with a time of 30:06 as the Bucs downed the Eagles, 15-50.

In the Inter-Ac: GERMANTOWN ACADEMY SWEEPS » Issy Goldsteain took invidual honors as the Patriots topped Agnes Irwin, 19-43 and Episcopal Academy, 18-45.

Jilliana McEntee placed fourth overall (22:16) as the Churhwomen edged the Owls, 27-30.

Gianna Murgia (21:21) finished in second and Sanaiya Watts (22:08) was third for Agnes Irwin. ACADEMY OF NOTRE DAME 27, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 28 » Lindsey Smith led all runners with a time of 23:25 and teammate Katie Lennon placed fourth at 24:01 for the Irish.

Girls Volleyball

Elise Butler had 15 kills and 20 digs, and Riley Shaak had 13 kills and 15 blocks as the Academy of Notre Dame rallied in the final two sets to stay undefeated with a 3-2 Inter-Ac League victory over Germantown Academy.

Maddie Donaphon had 23 digs and Lexi Shreiner added eight kills and 17 digs to help the Irish (10-0, 3-0) win 26-25, 20-25, 16-25, 25-14, 15-13.

In the Catholic League: SACRED HEART 3, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE1» Jaycee Webster had 18 kills and 10 digs as the Lions won, 2125, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18 to extend its winning streak to seven matches.

Juliana Michniak (15 kills, 12 digs and five aces), and Hannah Martinson (36 assists, three aces) also came up big for Sacred Heart (8-4, 5-3).

In the Catholic League: CARDINAL O’HARA 3, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 0 » Maeve Boylan collected 11 assists and four aces as the Lions cruised 25-7, 25-17, 25-12. Breanna Hickey added five kills and two aces, and Lauren Garvey added seven kills as the Lions (10-1, 4-0) continued their impressive start.

In the Ches-Mont League: SUN VALLEY 3, COATESVILL­E 0 » Shannon Vickers came up big with 16 assists and seven kills to lift the Vanguards (6-4, 4-3) over the Red Raiders, 25-20, 25-15, 2514.

Rachel DeCarlo paced te defense with 16 digs. Gia DiEmidio had four blocks and threes, and Olivia Nickerson added five kills.

In nonleague action: OWEN J. ROBERTS 3, AGNES IRWIN 2 » Gianna Napolean collected 16 digs and seven kills, but it wasn’t enough as the Owls dropped a heartbreak­er, 24-26, 26-24, 2225, 25-21, 15-13. Taryn Kelly contribute­d 18 digs and Colby Yoh added six kills and six blocks for Academies the Owls.

Girls Tennis

Megan Kidd and Emma Lee cruised to straight set victories in the first two singles matches and the doubles tandem of Lena Graziani and Emma Nevins finished off the No. 4 doubles match with a straight set win of their own as Strath Haven upended Haverford in the Central League, 7-0.

Greta Heihle and Enakshi Deb rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victory at third singles for the Panthers.

In the Catholic Academies League: VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 5, SACRED HEART 0 » Marcella Marino fought hard in the No. 1 singles match for Sacred Heart before losing 7-5, 6-2. Mya Lockings and Glenna Gobeil also held their own in the No. 1 doubles match, going down 6-3, 6-1.

In the Bicentenni­al League: DOCK MENNONITE 4, DELCO CHRISTIAN 3 » Caitlin Harvey won both the No. 1 and 3 singles matches, 6-1, 6-3 and the tandem of Lizzy Matthews and Daphne Neal had an impressive 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 doubles match for the Knights.

In the Catholic League: CARDINAL O’HARA 5, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 0 » The Lions received straight set victories in all three singles matches including a 6-0, 6-0 outcome from Jessica Dougherty in the No. 2 match. Dominance continued in doubles play with Mary Clare Hayden and Kathryn Toal rolling in the No. 1 match, 6-4, 6-1 as Cardinal O’Hara (12-1, 7-0) remained unbeaten in league play with only one match left in the season.

In the Inter-Ac: BALDWIN SCHOOL 4, ACADEMY OF NOTRE DAME 3 » McKenna Bramlage and Caroline Mackay won the first two singles matches in straight sets, but it wasn’t enough for the Irish (4-2, 2-1).

In nonleague action: CONESTOGA 5, AGNES IRWIN 2 » The tandems of Lexi Short and Kayla Neary and Kylie Nolan and Peyton Weber each claimed straight set victories in doubles for Agnes Irwin.

In the Tri-County League: BARRACK HEBREW 5, WOODLYNDE 0» The Cougars won all five matches in straight sets including a 6-1, 6-0 triump by Shira Stein and Talia Schley at first doubles.

Golf

Max Mezrow shot an even-par 35 and David Fitzgerald followed up with a 2-over 37 to propel Harriton to a 192-231 Central League victory over Ridley at the Springfiel­d Country Club. Oliver Forssel (39) also broke 40 for the Rams.

Christian Gallo was the top scorer for the Green Raiders with a 44, while Mike Wallen, Ethan Pecko and Patrick Farrell each shot 46.

Also in the Central League: RADNOR 187, HAVERFORD 206 » Davis Flannery had a strong day, shooting a 35 while teammates Luke Kelly (37), David Colleran (38) and James Quinn (38) helped the Raiders’ cause.

Emmett Fox carded a 37 for the Fords (12-2, 8-2), which included a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole. Holden Ungvary also birdied the same hole. Jack Delp, who shot a 43, birdied the par-3 fourth. GARNET VALLEY 218, SPRINGFIEL­D 228 » Jake Sokalsky paced the Jaguars by shooting a 40 and Kunal Gupta was just behind him at 43 in a match played at Concord Country Club.

Reed Curtis had a 42 and Colon Ellis shot a 45 for the Cougars.

In nonleague action: GREAT VALLEY 210, GLEN MILLS 276 » Jaden Lewis, Justice Orfield and Victor Morales all shot a 54 while Christophe­r Buggs and Trevor Brown each shot a 57 for the Bulls.
