St. George Loftus Steele, of the British and Canadian recruiting mission. After giving a big demonstration in Philadelphia on Sunday urging Great Britain subjects to enlist under the flag of John Bull, Col. Steele to make the recruiting trip here successful. 75 Years Ago – 1942: Manufactured goods valued at close to a billion dollars are being turned out in the Chester area during 1942, according to a survey of industrial plants employing more than 100 persons. the anti-poverty program is working in Delaware County.

The manager of the bar denied he was served there that night. “He was permanently barred here,” the manager said.

10 Years Ago – 2007: Dozens lined up in the parking lot of the new Chick-fil-A restaurant on MacDade Boulevard in hopes of snatching one of the 100 coupons for a year’s worth of sandwiches from the Folsom eatery. The Knupps of Midland, Va., drove 200 miles to arrive at the Chick-fil-A and claim the first spot in line. It was their seventh campout for free sandwiches.
