Food and Crafts Festival on tap Sunday in Media
MEDIA » Media Business Authority and Crozer-Keystone Health System present the borough’s 37th annual Food and Crafts Festival on Sunday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (rain date is Oct. 8). The event is free to attend.
Visit State Street in Media to taste foods from more than 40 restaurants, including Cajun, Italian, Thai, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Jamaican and other unique foods. Guests can visit craft booths and borough retailers. The Media Food Bank is collecting food items.
Musical entertainment features The Family Circus Band at noon and Sermon at 2:30 p.m. at State and Orange streets. Bickel Brothers Band plays State and Monroe streets at noon, followed by Leroy Hawkes & Hipnotics at 2:30.

Italian wine and food festival returns to Wilmington Oct. 8
WILMINGTON » The DaVinci Society of Delaware holds its the 14th annual Vendemmia Da Vinci Wine and Food Festival from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Figure 8 Barn on the grounds of the Bellevue State Park, 800 Carr Road.
Costs are $55 in advance and $60 at the gate. The event features wine samples from every region of Italy, Italian beers and specialties from over 20 area restaurants, four hours of professional entertainment featuring opera, classic Italian and contemporary music, a homemade gravy contest and a homemade wine contest. The competitions are open to the public.
This year, the festival hosts a Regional Bocce Tournament on official size bocce courts. Teams or individuals can enter at www.societadavinci.org/vendemmia
The DaVinci Society of Delaware is a 501 (3) (c) whose mission is to promote and advance Italian culture through education, service, charity and community events. All proceeds of the festival support the society and its programs. In 2016, the DaVinci Society of Delaware awarded close to $30,000 in scholarships, family assistance and cultural programs.

MARPLE » Delaware County Community College hosts two FAFSA Completion Nights to help prospective students with financial aid — one in Delaware County and one in Chester County. Both sessions are free and open to parents, families and students planning on attending the college.
The first session is Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 6-8 p.m. in Room B137 at the Pennocks Bridge Campus, 280 Pennocks Bridge Road, West Grove. The second session is Thursday, Oct. 19 from 6-8 p.m. in the STEM Center Auditorium on the Marple Campus, 901 S. Media Line Road, Media.
Staff are on-hand to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and answer questions about recent changes to the FAFSA process, scholarships, Pell grants, PHEAA grants, Work-Study and student loans. Recent updates to the FAFSA process include the application being made available Oct. 1-Jan. 1 and that applicants will use 2016 tax information for the 2018-19 academic year instead of 2017 tax returns.

New caregiver support group meets
MIDDLETOWN » The Residence at Glen Riddle, 263 Glen Riddle Road, partners with Ascend Hospice to launch a caregiver support group. The first meeting is held 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, with the topic “Caring for the Caregiver.”
The program addresses the growing needs of caregivers and meets the second Wednesday of every month. The meetings address a variety of topics such as selfcare, communication and other issues pertinent to the group. Guests are able to share and support others in a caring environment.

Aqua updates around Delco
Aqua Pennsylvania announces that $3.4 million in infrastructure improvement projects are currently underway in Delaware County.
In Upper Darby Township and Clifton Heights Borough, crews are working on a $1.3 million project to install 4,567 feet of 6-inch and 8-inch ductile iron mains. With project completion expected in the spring of 2018, the work is taking place on the following streets: South Oak Avenue from West Baltimore Pike to Secane Road; Bunting Lane from South Oak Avenue to Ashurst Avenue; Ashurst Avenue from Bunting Lane to Belmont Avenue; Belmont Avenue from Ashurst Avenue to Ashland Avenue.
A project to replace existing cast iron water mains with the installation of 3,394 feet of ductile iron mains. The project, which is expected to be completed in early 2018, is taking place on Garrett Road between Beverly Boulevard and Walnut Street.
In Ridley Township, crews are working to complete an $800,000 project to replace existing 6-inch, 8-inch and 12-inch cast iron and cement mains next spring, with 3,538 feet of new ductile iron main. Work will take place on the following streets: Fairview Road near MacDade Boulevard and North Fairview Road Mildred Avenue and Fairview Road.
Each of these projects will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. These main replacements are part of Aqua’s $51 million capital program for 2017.
