FAIR DEAL

I’m calling about the new market we have the Fare & Square, behind the Dollar Store, on Ninth Street in Chester. I just want to say between them and Philabundance, I cannot say enough as they’re great. They give out free food, they have raffles; they do everything. It’s just a great company. I just want to send them a shout out, because I haven’t seen anybody in Sound Off thank them for the work they do. MARY BETH

BUMMER CARE

To “Show The Numbers,” many area teachers – probably most of them – are now paying in to their health plans. They didn’t want too, but now they’re being forced to like those of us who had regular jobs in the private sector. I can tell you for a fact that my better half, who is a teacher in a very large local district, pays pretty much what we did when I was working for one of those companies. I say “was working” because I was let go because they didn’t feel like paying our health benefits anymore because of the Affordable Care Act, or what I call the “Abominable Care Act.” I’m still suffering with that today in partial employment, working only part-time and having to pay for my own health insurance. Yeah, anytime they can get rid of Obamacare will be not soon enough for me.

TWO SIDES

“Beware” is another one of these people quoting Eisenhower about the military-industrial complex – which I somewhat agree with them on – who throw the rest of his farewell address out of the window, like how he begrudgingly admitted the need for it. “Beware” seems to forget that a couple of paragraphs later Ike warned against the government being “the captive of the scientific-technological elite.” So “Beware,” why would the military-industrial complex whack Kennedy for not wanting to escalate Vietnam when their scientific-technological elite buddies they were codependent with were beginning to rake in millions upon millions from Kennedy’s moon landing idea?

60 MINUTE MEN

Let me jump off of what “60 Minute Men” was saying: With all the CTE concerns and everything else with safety in football, do you think we’d see these kinds of “devastating hits” or whatever the current buzzword is in the league if guys were still playing both sides of the ball. No more fresh legs from guys on special teams to get lit up on a punt return – think about it. JUST SAYING

LIES & MORE LIES

Poor Dilbert – everyone’s accusing him of lying even though he’s really an honest person being unfairly vilified. It’s just like what’s happening to poor Donald Trump and everyone around him. Oh wait no, they all really are lying. VOTER AND COMICS FAN

SADDLE UP

Whatever happened to good TV? We used to have good TV shows back in the ‘50s, ‘60s and 70s. Whatever happened to all the good shows? Now they have on these weird shows. Why don’t they wise up and put some cowboy shows back on and put on some more good police shows? And also let’s get back to variety shows and get rid of reality shows – they stink, too.

PARK THAT ARGUMENT

To “Parking Blues,” I got news for you – I drive a Lincoln and I park right in the right spaces. Some of these little dinky cars – they look they’re coffins on wheels – and they’re the ones that mess up the parking spaces. Subarus, Toyota, whatever they drive on the road these days – they’re the ones taking up the space because the people driving don’t have common sense.

SORRY, HILL

I remember callers saying before that Hillary Clinton was like those resume-builder people we all knew in high school and college, getting involved in stuff for their own self-aggrandizement but not contributing anything, riding other people’s coattails. I’ve got to agree with that assessment considering the way that she keeps popping up everywhere, probably to the detriment of her own party. For over a year the media had everyone believing she was coronated as the next president and she blew it. Maybe she should have been thinking about this for the prior 30 years of her life that changed people’s minds.
