MILLBOURNE » State Rep. Margo Davidson, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and U.S. Rep. Bob Brady host an immigration forum to help untangle increasingly complicated immigration policy from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Philadelphia Sikh Society, 6777 Market St.
The forum addresses topics that include: DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program; the road and rights to citizenship; Green Card: What it means to be a temporary resident vs. a permanent resident; visas and appropriate identification; medical coverage for undocumented residents; and newly naturalized citizens.
Many agencies and organizations that have programs for the immigrant community are on hand to provide help and information, including on local, state and national resources.
“Our communities are better and more diverse because of the immigrants who live and work here,” said Davidson (D-Delaware). “Immigration can be a difficult, years-long process, and this event is a great place to help people navigate the system and understand the policies that affect them.”

Tour haunted Newtown Square by trolley
NEWTOWN » The Delaware County Historical Society and the Newtown Square Historical Society present “A Haunted History Tour of Newtown Square” from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. Come out for a “spooktacular” time riding a trolley through cemeteries and over covered bridges on the tour of six spooky sites throughout Newtown Square.
The festivities start at the Drexel Lodge Park, 4140 West Chester Pike, where participants can board the trolleys, including one with Fox 29 Weather Anchor Sue Serio. Guests take a ride to the Newtown Square Friends Meetinghouse with a cemetery dating back to the 1700’s; the Bartram Bridge, the last covered bridge in Delaware County; and the Square Tavern, where artist Benjamin West’s father, John, was an intermittent host.
Next in line is the First Baptist Church Cemetery, where many of Newtown Square’s original settlers are laid to rest, followed by the Paper Mill House and Museum, which housed the Darby Creek mill workers of the 19th century.
The trolley’s last stop is the Newtown Square Pennsylvania Railroad Museum, time for their Pennsylvania Railroad Day celebration! Here, kids can ride a miniature train and see four rail cars that once traversed the township.
Children attending the history tour receive a Halloween goodie bag while supplies last. Students participating in the Delaware County Historical Society’s Passport to History program automatically receive stamps at each of the trolley stops. A light lunch is provided at the tour’s finale at Drexel Lodge Park,
The tour is free. Seating is first come, first served; reservations are required. For information and registration, call 610-359-0832.

Rafferty Subaru hosts pet adoptions
NEWTOWN » Providence Animal Center partners with Rafferty Subaru for pet adoption days on Saturdays Oct. 7 and Nov. 18 at the dealership, 4700 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square. Adoption hours on both days are 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Those planning on visiting the events should: Bring a completed adoption application (download at www.providenceac.org), a driver’s license or a stateissued ID with current address; the owner of the home must consent to the adoption of the animal; for those who rent, Providence requires a copy of the lease stating that the tenants are allowed to have pets. If the lease doesn’t state anything regarding owning pet, they will need an official letter from your landlord. Since many rental offices are closed on Saturday, try to get this ahead of time and bring the letter; homeowners should bring a copy of the deed, mortgage payment book or tax bill; all members of the household must approve of adopting the animal; those planning to adopt a dog who have other dogs must bring them to the Adoption Center to meet the newest dog under the supervision of a trained Providence Animal Center Animal Care Associate; those with veterinary records for current or previous pets should bring them.
Providence Animal Center’s adoption process is on a first good home come, first good home served basis when all requirements are met and the application is approved. To see a variety of the pets available for adoption at no fees, visit www. providenceac.org
