The Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum, which is located at 301 Iven Avenue in Radnor, is featuring one of the cards from its newest collection of top county sports figures each week on the museum’s website.

The featured card this week is of Bill Reynolds, the retired Paxon Hollow Middle School teacher and athletics director who spent 22 years as a member of the National Football League’s officiating staff as a line judge.

Reynolds was selected for playoff assignments 18 times, and in 1983 he worked Super Bowl 17 between the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins.

After retiring as an on-field official in 1997, he became an NFL replay judge. He also has been an observer at college games.

The Sports Legends Museum is continuing its drive to raise funds to have a statue erected of Radnor High graduate Emlen Tunnell, a World War II hero and the first African-American elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Museum curator Jim Vankoski recently announced that former Chester High athlete Bo Ryan, retired University of Wisconsin men’s basketball coach, made an offer to help the statue committee reach its fund-raising goal of $75,000 by coming up with the $20,000 it still needs for its final payment.

“If there is an individual, club, organization, business, or company willing to donate $10,000, I will match it with a donation of the final $10,000,” Ryan said. “Let’s get this done.”
