CONCORD » The face of township government, which will add two new visages in January, started its conversion a few months early. Amanda Serock was presented as the new township manager, and Gail Ryan announced her resignation from council, as part of the October agenda.

Serock succeeds Brenda Lamanna, who was appointed to the post in January 2015 following Bob Willert’s resignation. She retired Sept. 30 after serving the township for 22 years and council President Dominic Pileggi and Vice President John Gillespie noted it had had been a pleasure working with her.

The former township manager in Chadds Ford, Serock worked for three years in the adjacent municipality. She was the assistant manager in Swarthmore for five years.

“I’m really excited to be working for the township,” she said. “I’m anxious to get to know all the residents.”

Ryan was named to the thenboard of supervisors in June 2015, replacing Dominic Cappelli, and was elected to a full term that November. She was employed for more than 30 years by the Lower Merion public works and building and planning departments and was a resident of Fox Hill Farms. Pileggi thanked her for her municipal experience and for representing one of the township’s over-55 communities.

“My resignation is bittersweet, as I have been engaged for two and a-half years with a wonderful board,” said Ryan. “I appreciate their dedication and the help they and the staff provided me.”

The opening will be advertised in local newspapers and on the township website. A replacement should be appointed within 30 days of the official resignation, said township Solicitor Hugh Donaghue.

Township council, formed this year with the passage of the home rule charter, will expand from five to seven members in 2018. Republicans Pileggi, Gillespie, fellow incumbent Tom Mahoney, John Crosson and Joshua Twersky are seeking the at-large seats in the November election.
