Sound Off: Call 484-521-3180

FUTURE SHOCK

To “A Slice Of Life,” if we don’t get blown up a nuclear war first, I often wonder what future generations will think if they stumble upon Sound Off. To all humans, cyborgs and all other naturally and artificially sentient beings reading this in the future: Do not take Sound Off as representative of all 20th and 21st Delaware Countians.

MISSING THE TARGET

Couldn’t Miss Know-It-All Jodine Mayberry give us some figures on how many of these deaths by guns where by illegal guns or guns that were stolen? Does she want to round the illegal weapons up and then there will be gun control? Good luck with that.

IT COULD BE WORSE THAN RIDLEY

To “Loving Life In Ridley” (very funny, Daily Times, I got a laugh), complaining about property taxes in Ridley and saying the school district isn’t good anymore: You can find a lot worse school districts with equal or higher property taxes around the Mid-Atlantic region. FRIEND OF THE RAIDERS

SWAMP THINGS

An article in the Times noted that “despite Donald Trump’s campaign vow to drain the swamp of lobbyists and special interests, the D.C. influence industry is alive and well and growing under Trump.” So this just shows that the morons who voted for Trump because he was going to “drain the swamp” are just that – morons.

GOOD LUCK, BOB!

That was a great article in Friday’s paper on Bob Adams. He was a great cop, and I wish him all the luck in his new adventure.

JUST SAY NO

Some caller is complaining about having to take a drug test to get a job. I have an idea: Don’t do drugs before you have to get tested for a job, then you won’t have to worry about that. And you don’t like that idea, go down to D.C. and get a job as a politician being as you don’t think they take drug tests. And as for teachers, they do take drug tests. ALL DRUGGED OUT

‘SECOND’ THOUGHTS

The only justification anyone can give for why we can’t regulate firearms at least as stringently as we regulate automobiles is that “arms” are mentioned in the Second Amendment. But how can anyone justify the Second Amendment? Are we enduring countless gun tragedies only because of tradition? It’s time to repeal and replace.

OLD AND KNEW

“More Pro Gun Gobbelygook” is another rightwing idiot who has no idea what they’re talking about – calling muskets militarygrade weapons is ridiculous. Back in the 1790s, military-grade weapons were cannons. And saying that in the 1790s “wellregulated” meant property working, not as in government regulated, is another idiotic statement. Unless they were alive in the 1790s, how would they know this?

WAY TO GO, HARRY

To “Give It Up, Harry,” I don’t have a problem with Harrison Ford doing these movies despite his advancing age. He’s like the 80-year-old guy on the block with bad arthritis still mowing his lawn and pruning his trees while his 35-year-old neighbor hires a landscaper – you’ve got to respect the can-do spirit.

WHAT LANGUAGE!

I agree with “Just Imagine.” Having listened to listened to enough Oval Office tapes of JFK, LBJ and Nixon that have been released over the years, it’s crazy to think how things would have been if the news media of today existed 50 years ago. I won’t go as far as saying they make Trump sound like a choir boy, but they all equal or exceed his vulgarity.

LAY OF THE LAND

Years ago most people had area rugs, and once or twice a year, between many vacuums, these rugs are picked up and sent out for professional cleaning. Does anyone know of a company who still picks up and returns the rugs? Any information would be helpful. Thank you. JCL IN RIDLEY PARK

FAMILY VALUES

So now we have the first Mrs. Trump in a public spat with the third Mrs. Trump about who has the right to be called “first lady.” If you ask me, neither of them are “ladies” and I wish they’d both just disappear.
