Kaito Kitazawa’s goal five minutes into the game was all Bonner & Prendergas­t needed for a 1-0 victory over rival Cardinal O’Hara in Catholic League boys soccer action Friday night.

Goalkeeper Tony Harper (10 saves) and the defense took care of the rest for the Friars.

In the Bicentenni­al League: DELCO CHRISTIAN 3, MAST CHARTER 2 » Cole Levis had one goal and two assists to help the Knights rally from a 2-0 halftime deficit.

Levin fed Henry Moon for a goal in the 42nd minute to get DC on the board. Levis scored the equalizer in the 51st minute then set up Ben Halladay for the winner in the 75th minute.

In the Inter-Ac League: GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 3, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 2 » Nick Pippis and M.J. Atkins tallied one goal each as the Fords dropped a heartbreak­er in overtime.

In nonleague action: PENNCREST 6, CHICHESTER 2 » Brandon Cairy tallied netted goals and Brian MacCurtin scored twice to pace the Lions. Colby Schnyder added two assists.

Girls Soccer

Anna Salvucci dished out one assist in each half and goalie Hannah Moriarty turned in a clean sheet as Episcopal Academy blanked Germantown Academy in the Inter-Ac League, 2-0.

Salvucci found Luren Bassett for EA’s first goal and then set up Olivia Dirks in the second half to provide some insurance. Moriarty turned back five shots to post the shutout.

Volleyball

Tina Balta racked up a double-double with 21 assists and 10 aces as Penncrest moved up to No. 6 in the District 1 Class 3A power rankings with a 3-0 Central League victory over Harriton.

Jordan Schuller (six kills, nine digs), Carly Venit (six kills, eight blocks) and Kira McDevitt (15 digs) also came up big in the 25-19, 25-18, 25-8 victory for the Lions (8-2 Central League). RIDLEY 3, UPPER DARBY 0 » Jackie Kelly handed out 21 assists in the 25-13, 25-8, 25-16 victory for the Green Raiders. Angela April (nine kills, two blocks), Maria Brown (seven kills, three aces) and Gina Borcky (five kills) paced the offense.

In nonleague action: GARNET VALLEY 3, VILLA MARIA1» Rachel Kane doled out 39 assists as the Jaguars (133) beat the No. 6 ranked team in Class 3A. Erin Patterson (15 kills) and Alana Hagerty (10 kills, three aces) were on the receiving end of many of those helpers. Amber Goldberg and Jordan Gallagher combined for 27 digs to pace the defense in the 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18 victory. W.C.EAST3,RADNOR1» Sammy Scannipiec­o recorded 29 digs, but the Raiders fell 17-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-20. Izzy Criscuolo (six kills, five blocks, four aces) and Erica DiCarlo (21 assists, three aces) also had solid games.

Field Hockey

Sofia Acosta scored with 11:30 left in the game to lift Episcopal Academy to a 3-2 Inter-Ac League win over Germantown Academy. Maddie Rehak tallied the first two goal, and Bridget Boyle (nine saves) and Caroline Kelly (one save) shared time in goal for EA (12-2, 5-1). NOTRE DAME 6, AGNES IRWIN 0» Lauren Curren scored the first three goals and finished with four to keep the Irish (11-12, 6-0) unbeaten in the league. Tina D’Anjolell (one goal, two assists) and Sarah Jane Quigley (two assists) also came up big on the offensive end.

Paige Dilullo made 10 saves in goal for the Owls.

In nonleague action: PENNCREST 3, INTERBORO 0 » Margaret Howe-Consiglio, Emerson Smith and Maitlin Combs netted one goal each for the Lions.

Sophia Harley turned back eight shots in goal for the Bucs. COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2, RIDLEY 1 » The Indians scored twice in the second half to erase a 1-0 defict. Karleigh Fultz converted a pass from Corrinne Stratton to put the Green Raiders (3-14) up 1-0. Goalie Megan Frame made 12 saves. ABINGTON 3, GARNET VALLEY 0» The Jaguars had 14 shots on goal and eight corners, but Abington goalie Megan Dockstader (12 saves) was equal to the task. Megan Finnegan had six saves in goal for GV.

Girls Tennis

Top-seeded Kanon Ciarrocchi and Lucey Hederick of Radnor breezed through the first day of the Central League doubles tournament at the Healthplex in Springfiel­d.

Ciarrocchi and Hederick knocked off Strath Haven’s Greta Rohrer and Lilly Steinke, 6-0, 6-0, and then defeated Radnor teammates Bridget Dougherty and Klaire Burton, 6-0, 6-2, to advance to Saturday’s semifinals.

Second-seeded Megan Kidd and Emma Lee of Strath Haven also advanced to the semis with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Lower Merion’s Cecilia Angert Denis and Tiffany Nieh in the quarterfin­als. Kidd and Lee knocked off Jenna Mancuso and Aasha Gupta, 6-3, 6-4, in the second round. Third-seeded Maddie Wood and Nina Herman of Conestoga and fifth-seeded Priya Aravindhan and Oliva Dodge from Conestoga also advanced to the semifinals.

In the Inter-Ac League: PENNCHARTE­R4,NOTREDAME 3» Caroline Mackay scored a three-set victory at second singles, and Katie Willis and Eloise Schroer and Marissa Mycek and Ellie Graham won at third and fourth doubles, respective­ly.

Water Polo

Matt LaRocca collected four goals and two assists, but it wasn’t enough as Haverford School dropped a 17-16 Inter-Ac League decision to Germantown Academy in overtime.

Ryan LaRossa, John Nelligan and T.J. Brooks chipped in with three goals each.
