Martin “Marty” Stein, age 83, of Philadelph­ia, PA, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. Marty was born and raised in Philadelph­ia, PA to the late Benjamin L. and Bertha (Leshner) Stein.

A gentle soul, Marty never chose to argue, and neither race nor religions were considered in a friendship. As a youngster, he was a baseball player and could throw a fast ball. He was a graduate of Central High in Philadelph­ia, BCCC, and attended the University of Pennsylvan­ia. He had a great respect for our country and the military and served in the army for two years. Marty was a self-taught artist and piano player, and became a graphic designer for G.E. (General Electric). Many of his paintings adorn his home. After 29 years he retired from G.E. Marty took up golfing and skiing with his wife Dorothy. Together, they enjoyed many cruises. Marty shared many vacations and many celebratio­ns with his brother in law Neil and his wife Karen.

Marty is survived and missed by the love of his life Dorothy (Lawley) Stein, who shared 48 years together, two sons; Dennis (Linda) and Lorin (Carol), daughter Geral Stein, two grandchild­ren Katie and Christophe­r, who Marty adored, sister Marci (Richard) Tretler and nephew and niece Jon and Betsy, whom Marty shared a special bond with. Marty will be forever missed and loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to Marty’s funeral service on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, 10AM, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtow­n, PA 19335, where friends may call from 9-10AM. Burial will be private.
