Erminio “Tony” Savelloni

Erminio “Tony” Savelloni, age 92, of Swarthmore, on October 21, 2017.

Beloved husband of 66 years of Anna (nee DiRocco) and loving father of Angelo (Rosemary), Erminio, Jr. (the late Barbara) and John (Christine) Savelloni. Also survived by seven grandchildren; Jessica Tropea (Angelo), Melissa Higgins (Andy), A. Paul Savelloni (Shannon), and Tara, Julie, Jenna and Nicholas Savelloni and five greatgrandchildren. He is survived by his sister Ida Ferrarelli (late Sam) and sisterin-law Mary Savelloni. He is predeceased by his brother, Mario Savelloni.

Erminio was born August 22, 1925 and was the oldest of three children to Angelo and Adelina Savelloni in Ferentino, Frosinone, Italy. His family came to the United States in 1940 and settled in Chester, PA. In 1942, he joined the United States Navy and served in the Atlantic aboard the USS New York and the Pacific aboard the newly christened USS Missouri. During the Pacific campaigns, the Missouri with its 16-inch guns and its crew served admirably in such places as Iwo Jima, Saipan, Okinawa and throughout the Sea of Japan.

Erminio joined Philadelphia Electric Company in 1947 and retired in February 1988. He was an avid gardener, wine maker and a Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder since 1957. He was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes parish and was a member of the Sons of Italy, Springfield, PA. He was a long time member of the Men of Malvern where he was honored with 50 consecutive years.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Thursday evening 6-9 PM at the Danjolell-Barone Memorial Home, 908 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford, PA 19086. On Friday morning, in Church, Visitation 10-10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 950 Michigan Ave, Swarthmore, PA 19081. Entombment at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
