Know a tot for needs a toy? Apply for program at Chester church through Nov. 6

CHESTER » In 2016, the team of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Program and the Christian Church of Chester assisted about 250 children. The team’s goal is to top that number for 2017, and is asking for Times readers to help identify children and families who would like assistance in providing toys for their tots (children 17 years of age and under). This opportunity is not restricted to residents of Chester only. It is open to any qualifying family in Delaware County.

The holiday season is an opportunity for us to share the love of Christ through the gift of giving. The Christian Church of Chester assists the Toys for Tots Program by providing Delaware County residents with several opportunities to register their children.

Effective immediately, applications will be taken at the church, 308 W. Third St., from 6-7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. Deadline is Nov. 6.

The registration requirements are: Complete the application (provided at registration, volunteers are there to assist with the process); and child/children must be 17 years of age and under.

To help ensure serving as many families as possible, the Toys for Tots Program requires that qualifying families show a copy of the child’s Social Security Card during registration. They will not be kept or copied.
