New member joins Concord council
CONCORD » Council has a new face in advance of the November 7 election.
Marge Franke was appointed Oct. 30 to replace Gail Ryan, who announced her resignation earlier in the month. She was one of six individuals to apply for the seat and received the oath of of fice from Magisterial District Judge Wendy Roberts.
“They were one of the most impressive groups since I have been here,” said board President Dominic Pileggi.
An eight-year township resident, Franke works as an independent nurse contractor. She retired three years ago from the Delaware County Memorial Hospital cancer center.
Franke and her husband, Raymond, live in Fox Hill Farm, a 55+community of 491 homes. She holds an MBA in addition to her nursing degree and has served on the development’s board of directors and the COSA advisory council.
“I feel I bring a lot of experience,” she said. “In my professional life I have been responsible for personnel and approved all contracts as a member of the Fox Hill Farm board.”
Township council, formed this year with the passage of the home rule charter, will expand from five to seven members in 2018. Republicans Pileggi, fellow incumbents John Gillespie and Tom Mahoney and John Crosson and Joshua Twersky are seeking the at-large seats, joining Franke and Libby Salvucci.
