- GRATEFUL SENIORS ‘SEMPER FI,’ A VIETNAM VETERAN JUST SAYING IN SPRINGFIELD CONCERNED CITY RESIDENT JUST ASKING

THE CHIEF COMES THROUGH

Thanks to Chester Township Chief of Police Coalson, who came to aid of three seniors in distress Oct. 19. Your kindness, compassion, and dedication to protect and serve is greatly appreciated. Thank so very much, Chief Coalson.

GOOD GIRLS

On Saturday morning, Darby Girl Scout Troop #5565 exhibited their gratitude to our military veterans for the sacrifices they made for our country through their display of patriotism, courtesy and respect. These young girls served their annual Veterans Breakfast at the Darby Borough Recreation Center to all who were in attendance. It was one of the nicest ways to physically say, “Thank you for your service.” Thank you, Troop #5565, for your day of service!

SAVE YOUR BREATH

As a Springfield resident, I was happy to read the Daily Times’ story that our high school is still “top of the class in education.” I guess we don’t need that new high school building since our kids are doing so well.

BOARD TO TEARS

I can’t understand why there are so many boarded-up houses in the Bennett Home projects when people need a place to live. Years ago you would never see a boarded-up house in the projects because people had a place to live. It does not make sense. They have a list of people who need a home to live in and they have all those places boarded up. It’s just ridiculous.

GET HAPPY

With the Eagles 7-1 at the time, I saw in Saturday’s Sound Off one outright insult for Chip Kelly and a passing (and more understandable) one from another caller complaining about Gabe Kapler. Can we live up anymore to the angry Philadelphia fan stereotype? He’s gone; we’re winning by playing real, gimmick-free football — let it go.

SEEING RED

Boy, there were a lot of angry leftists hurling insults in Friday. This is a far cry from the ‘60s liberals who were all about peace and love. Are they upset because we’re coming up on the 100th anniversary of their beloved Soviet Union that didn’t quite work out?

STRANGER THAN FICTION

So according to Donna Brazile, the DNC was on the verge of bankruptcy during Obama’s presidency. The Democrats unable to responsibility handle money? That just can’t be!

TIME TO CHEER

After reading Monday’s Sound Off, I can’t believe how many naive people there are in this world – nothing but Republicanand Trump-bashing and saying how the Democrats are for the little guy, the working man. Hello, unemployment is the lowest it’s been in 17 years; jobless claims the lowest since 1973; stock market at an all-time high. The GDP is hitting 3 percent every quarter, something Obama wasn’t able to hit during his eight years. And has anyone in Delaware County checked their 401(k)? All the money I lost during the past eight years under Obama, I’ve gained back in 10 months under Trump.

TRY MOVING, MAYBE?

When are they’re going to do something about these trains down around Boothwyn and Marcus Hook? All they do is keep up people up all night – running all kinds of hours, blowing whistles, idling and everything else. It’s disturbing the peace and there should be a law against it.

NAMING NAMES

I know I’ve called in about this before, but I’m calling again about it. This is basically why nothing can get done in Congress or in this country, period – looking at Friday’s Sound Off and one caller says that “‘Heads Up’ is another typical right-wing moron.” Then the next caller saying, “I see another big mouth Republican running their mouth.” You can’t have a differing opinion from someone without being a big-mouthed idiot or moron.
